14th RD Democrats to host O’Mara May 8

May 3, 2024

Collin O’Mara, a Democratic candidate for Delaware governor, will be the guest speaker at the Wednesday, May 8 meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Committee.

O’Mara, who currently serves as president of the National Wildlife Federation, will discuss his campaign focus on key issues, from not enough well-paying jobs and underperforming schools to the existential threat of climate change.

One of three Democratic contenders for governor, O’Mara’s career is marked by public service. In 2009, he became the youngest cabinet secretary in the nation when Gov. Jack Markell appointed him secretary of natural resources and environmental control at the age of 29. Outside Delaware, he later served as economic development officer and clean tech strategist for San José, Calif., and assistant budget director for Syracuse, N.Y.

The program will begin at 5 p.m. with a Dutch treat dinner at Iron Hill Brewery on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach, followed by O’Mara’s remarks at 6 p.m. and committee business at 6:30 p.m.

The 14th RD Committee represents Democrats who live in and around Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. All registered Democrats are welcome to participate in 14th RD meetings.

Those planning to attend the May 8 meeting should RSVP by Tuesday, May 7, to c.fruchtman@comcast.net.
