Ardith Barbara Arehart-Swinzow, loved by many

Ardith Barbara Arehart-Swinzow passed away peacefully with her husband Paul at her side Friday, April 26, 2024, at Atlantic Shores Health Care Center, Millsboro.

Ardith, known by her family and friends as “Ardie,” was born May 31, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Henry J. and Ruth May Zane Richter.  After the family moved to Hershey, Pa., Ardith attended Hershey High School, where she graduated in 1964, then attended Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1969.  After moving to Delaware, she was employed as a manager at a local mobile home park, where she met her future husband, Paul Swinzow, who also was employed at the park in the mid-1990s. 

Ardie and Paul were married in Lewes Presbyterian Church Aug. 14, 1999. Since they had already planned a trip in December, they delayed their honeymoon till then and spent 10 days riding trains and going to Christmas markets in Austria and Germany.

Ardith is survived by her husband, Paul; one brother, Eric Richter and his wife Dora; her nephew, Christopher and his wife Casey, and their three children; her niece, Jennifer and her husband Jason, and their two children, all of whom live in the greater metropolitan area of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Peter Swinzow and his daughter Georgianna, and Michael and Dawn Swinzow of Virginia; and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Anne Swinzow of Milton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 6, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where a viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
