Monica Rae Phillips, enjoyed crafting, gardening

May 2, 2024
Monica Rae (Hall) Phillips, 47, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Barclay Phillips II, or Jimmy as he was known. She is survived by her daughter, Meredeth Ann Rhoades; parents, Karen Propes, and Jack and Ellen Hall; her siblings, Jason (Nicole) Hall, JoAnn (Matt) Purnell and Chuck (Jenn) Speake.

Monica was born March 16, 1977, at Milford Hospital, spending her childhood in lower Delaware and graduating from Milford Senior High School in 1995. She was proud to earn her real estate license but especially proud when she brought Meredeth, her only child, into this world. Monica was involved in the American Legion and the Punkin Chunkin scene. What at times seems like a second lifetime later, Monica married Jimmy and made a special home for them in Lewes. Their property was simple and provided much of what she needed. It had a garden that kept her busy and gave her ingredients to cook or can delicious recipes she enjoyed sharing, a “she shed” to make crafts with shells and other items, and a place to care for the animals they had taken in. This season will be difficult for family and friends alike, but all can take comfort in knowing she is experiencing complete rest and peace.

A service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, with visitation beginning at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
