March 28, 2024

The ownership, staff, and agents of the Oldfather Group are excited to wish everyone a very happy Easter Weekend in the coastal region. It's a great time for family and friends to come together and enjoy this special time of the year.

We hope you'll take advantage of it as we transition into the busy season throughout the region.

With Easter comes an increased level of family-friendly events and gatherings both at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches. We've picked our favorites to tell you about in today's Weekender Blog.

So be sure to keep reading and learn all about what's happening over the next few days in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Ocean City, and in other towns and municipalities throughout the region.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Great Delaware Kite Festival (March 29)

A Good Friday tradition, the Great Delaware Kite Festival returns to Cape Henlopen State Park this weekend after a one-year hiatus due to a construction project in 2023.

This year's festival will again include a children's Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a kite competition and the rest of the day-long festival at 11:30.

Scheduled events and activities include kite demonstrations, competitions, on-site food and kite vendors, face painting, and plenty of other family-friendly activities.

This event is organized by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce. Learn more at leweschamber.com.

Home, Condo, and Outdoor Show (March 29-30)

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City plays host to this two-day event that features all things related to your home and the great outdoors.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of this popular springtime event, with exhibitors planned in areas that include flooring, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, pools, patios, landscaping, and many more.

There will also be an arts and crafts component to this year's show, so be sure to check that out if you'll be attending the event.

Scheduled times for the show are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Learn more at oceanpromotions.info.

Lewes Tulip Celebration (March 29-April 14)

If there's a sure sign spring has arrived, it's the annual tulip celebration held throughout historic Lewes.

This is the 15th year the Lewes Chamber of Commerce has held this annual springtime event, which lasts for 17 days and is a partnership with Lewes in Bloom.

More than 100 varieties of tulips will be on display during this year's event, which is held at several locations around town. Maps are available and can be obtained at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce office behind the Zwaanendael Museum on Kings Highway.
