The 10th annual Oy Vey 5K, staged April 21 at Seaside Jewish Community Center in Rehoboth Beach, attracted 105 runners, tens of one-mile walkers and a dozen dogs.
Bennett Brumbley, 16, a wrestler and a runner, was the overall winner in 18:31. The Harrington Harrier Matt Sparacino, 46, was second and overall masters champion in 18:33.
“I tried to shake him with a mile to go, but Bennett just hung there,” Matt said. “There is no way I let him win the race, he just beat me.”
Zuly Martinez was overall women’s winner in 22:04. Debra Isser, 69, was first in the women’s masters division in 23:28.

The next local Seashore Striders race is the second annual The Journey 5K at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 27, in Bethany Beach. The Sea Colony Racquet Sports Center will serve as the signup and start/finish line.
