For people who want to enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle, reduce pain, gain strength and mobility, or improve their golf swing, Dr. Jeff Seakan offers a variety of solutions at his Doc Phytness private training studio inside Midway Motion & Fitness at 34823 Derrickson Drive, Rehoboth Beach.

Seakan is a doctor of physical therapy, a board-certified orthopedic specialist and an athletic trainer. He has trained active individuals of all ages, and worked with high school, collegiate and professional athletes as well as with senior olympians. Seakan has more than 10 years of experience as a physical therapist and more than 25 years spent in the gym.

Clients work with Seakan in a private training studio and have full gym access at Midway.

“In a society where aging is often associated with physical limitations and decline, our approach at Doc Phytness gives clients an achievable path to maintain vitality at every stage of life,” said Seakan. “Our goal is to create safe, tailored training programs that allow clients to build functional strength and physical resilience to remain active well into their senior years.”

Doc Phytness clients begin with a comprehensive head-to-toe evaluation of posture, strength, flexibility, balance, and core stability to identify muscle imbalances and asymmetries that can lead to functional compensations and future degeneration or injury.

Based on the assessment, the client’s medical history and personal goals, Seakan creates a customized fitness program. One-on-one training sessions include education, critiques, and adjustments to create a safe path for renewed health.

Individuals who have completed prescribed physical therapy but still experience pain, weakness or reduced mobility also can benefit from Doc Phytness, Seakan said. “Changing the structure and function of our bodies takes time and consistency, along with a specific exercise prescription,” he explained. “Doc Phytness bridges the gap from traditional PT into the gym setting to help clients achieve an active, pain-free lifestyle.” Clients report both positive changes in their bodies and an overall sense of improved physical wellness.

Morty Bachar, 67, was losing strength and suffering from lower back pain during daily tasks when he began training with Seakan. “After working with Dr. Jeff, I got stronger, reduced my clothing size, and feel better than I have in years,” Bachar said, adding that his sciatica pain also disappeared.

“With Dr. Jeff, you are gaining a highly qualified and trusted partner in your journey toward better health and vitality,” Bachar said.

Seakan is certified as a Titleist Performance Institute medical golf performance specialist. Doc Phytness has a golf simulator, and in conjunction with the TPI movement screen, allows Seakan to identify physical impairments that limit the proper mechanics of the golf swing, leading to pain and injury, and reducing speed, power and distance. “This program helps golfers play at their highest level and sets them up for years of pain-free play,” Seakan said.

Doc Phytness also offers recovery services such as dry needling, cupping, scraping, manual trigger point release, Kinesio taping and assisted stretching.
