Festival events also include theatre workshops
May 7, 2024

As part of the Southern Delaware Festival of the Arts, the Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will perform at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, at the Premiere Center for the Arts, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.

Club members are proud to present the rarely produced musical “21 Chump Street” by Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of “Hamilton,” used by special permission of Concord Theatricals.

A comic parody about undercover drug enforcement agents in a high school, the play is being directed by Olunifemi “Nife” Anawo, a Sussex Central junior in the International Baccalaureate program. It will be performed one time only as part of the theater offerings on the day of the festival.

Other activities offered by Take Two during the day are a teen improv workshop led by SCHS junior Spencer Camlin and a Shakespeare workshop for all ages led by the nationally renowned Delaware Shakespeare Festival. The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance is free, but a $5 donation to attend “21 Chump Street” will be gratefully accepted.
