Anita Evans Procop, beauty shop owner

Anita Evans Procop, 75, of Millville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home after a brief illness.

Anita was born Sept. 4, 1940, daughter of the late Thomas E. Jr. and Kathryn Hickman. She was a 1958 graduate of Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View. She attended Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, and Delmarva Beauty Academy in Salisbury, Md. Anita owned and operated a beauty salon in Ocean View for 35 years.

Anita had a zest for life, and had many diverse talents and interests, including her passion for golf, singing with the choir and Chapelettes at the Ocean View Church of Christ, painting, hair styling, and antiquing. She loved spending time with family and friends, and had a gift for storytelling and reminiscing that provided much entertainment and laughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Forrest Evans; second husband, William Procop; and her grandson, James Michael Evans. Anita is survived by two sons, Mike Evans and his wife Jamie, an Mark Evans and his wife Lisa; a daughter, Marsha Evans; stepson, Scott Procop; four grandchildren, Jennifer Abbott and her husband Lex, Melinda Evans, Melissa Evans and Carter McCabe; a great-granddaughter, Emma Abbott; two sisters, Susan West and Debbie Crowley; and stepgrandchildren, Kara Blatzheim, Erin Dorey and Kristen Rogers.

A funeral service was held Sunday, July 3, at the Ocean View Church of Christ, 55 West Ave, Ocean View, followed by interment in Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery, Ocean View.
