Deadwyler to join Delaware Community Foundation
The Delaware Community Foundation announced that Rick Deadwyler Jr. will join the foundation as vice president for community engagement Jan. 1.
Deadwyler has spent the past three years as the University of Delaware's director of government relations, serving as the primary point of contact for state and local government officials, constituent groups and business leaders, promoting the university’s mission and goals.
As vice president for community engagement, which is a new role at the foundation, Deadwyler will lead the community engagement and civic leadership initiatives, helping the philanthropic community use data and knowledge to identify, prioritize and address social, economic and environmental issues affecting quality of life throughout the state.
"We're thrilled that Rick has agreed to join our team," said foundation President and CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay. "His background will be a great asset in advancing our work to provide philanthropists with information that will enable them increase quality of life in Delaware. And his experience fostering public/private partnerships and his deep love for Delaware will help us help the community make the greatest impact possible with the limited charitable resources available."
Deadwyler previously worked in state affairs and corporate philanthropy for DuPont, community relations for the Delaware River and Bay Authority, and various education administration and juvenile justice leadership roles with the state of Delaware. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Delaware and a master's in elementary education from Wilmington University. He lives in Newark with his wife Yvonne and their three sons.
