HUD officials discuss Fair Housing Rights

On Sept. 25, Pathways to Success Inc. and the Rev. Timothy Duffield, of Zoar United Methodist Church, hosted a gathering at the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company with the goal of the evening being to share a collective vision for Sussex County focused on community revitalization and fair housing rights for everyone.

Speakers included Romona Fullman, director, State of Delaware Division of Human Relations; Melody Taylor Blancher, Mid-Atlantic Regional director of housing and urban development; Jane Hovington, NAACP Sussex County director; the Rev. Timothy Duffield, pastor of Zoar United Methodist Church and Curtis United Methodist Churches; Nadab Bynum, director for Housing and Urban Development Office and Community Planning and Development; Prentice Perry, Pine Town Civic Association president and representatives from Pathways to Success.

The event provide an opportunity to educate, inform and empower residents living in underserved communities in Sussex County to understand what the Fair Housing Act is, who the Fair Housing Act covers, what Fair Housing Rights are, who enforces Fair Housing Rights and how to martial resources to revitalize their communities.
