Knights of Columbus veteran suicide prevention effort starts June 4

June 2, 2025

Since 9/11, more veterans have lost their lives to suicide than to combat.

To demonstrate the significance of the veteran suicide problem, Knights of Columbus Father Capodanno Assembly 2413 will be placing 22 crosses a day every day for 30 days on the grounds at St. Jude The Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes.

Organizers will hold the first gathering to place 22 crosses at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, continuing each day through Thursday, July 3, when a total of 660 crosses will have been placed. The public is encouraged to come out at 9:30 a.m. any of those days to learn more about veteran suicide and what can be done to prevent it. Those who have lost a veteran to suicide may also come to write that veteran’s name on a cross in remembrance. The display will be lit each night.

The KoC Father Capodanno Assembly 2413 organizers will hold a veteran suicide prevention awareness ceremony at approximately 11:45 a.m., Sunday, July 6, directly following the 10:30 a.m. mass.
