Lewes in Bloom holds May Day decorating contest

Businesses, residents celebrate with fresh flowers

The City of Lewes was awash in fresh flowers May 4, the day Lewes in Bloom held its fourth annual decorating contest.

Residents and businesses greeted spring by hanging baskets of fresh flowers on doors, doorknobs, front steps and porches.

A team of judges from Lewes in Bloom spent the day scrutinizing the entries.

Here are the winners:

Grand prize: Cape Artists Gallery ($250 prize, donated by Active Adults Realty)

First place, business: Touch of Italy

Second place, business: Lewes Public Library

First place, residential: Joyce Calamia

Second place, residential: Harry Sheing.
