Paws for Cause a barking success

Sussex County Association of Realtors hosts beneficial and happy event
May 5, 2024

The Sussex County Association of Realtors hosted Paws for Cause, the SCAOR spring affiliate event at Crooked Hammock in Lewes April 25.

Lots of smiles and cold noses filled the yard as Grass Roots Rescue brought a large group of pups looking for furever homes. The event included a silent auction of baskets filled with goodies, a puppy fashion show where the costumes were auctioned off to benefit Grass Roots Rescue and a donation drive for the rescues at GRR. Donations included unopened dog food and treats, blankets, collars, leashes, sheets, shampoo and grooming supplies, toys and much more. All proceeds go to Grass Roots Rescue.

“This was such a fantastic event,” said Grass Roots Rescue volunteer Sherri Cook. “The Sussex County Association of Realtors were very kind and opened their hearts, and they were very generous with donations to our rescue.”

“When being asked to be part of the committee to help the Grass Roots Rescue fundraiser, I was so excited and thought an event called Paws For a Cause would be a great way to create excitement,” said Newfed Mortgage’s Pam Robichaud, who was the chair of the event. ”I have a great passion for animals and think they should all be treated with love and respect. Helping them find their forever home is important. The fashion show and doggie costumes that were auctioned off was a fun way to help raise money for a great cause. I hope that this event will continue to grow year after year.”
