People who love lobster are in luck this month. During September, all nine SoDel Concepts restaurants along the Delaware coast are featuring dishes made with one of the world's most coveted crustaceans. Picture a whole lobster, sliced hangar steak with a fried baby lobster tail or a lobster-and-chorizo quesadilla.
"Many people associate lobster with summer, but the lobster season in the Northeast is in full swing right now," said Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts. "Because we're in the shoulder season at the beach, our chefs have more time to be creative with our specials. Lobster meat is so versatile – it complements all our concepts, from Italian to Mexican. And, of course, it's a natural at our seafood-centric restaurants."
The chefs wasted no time stretching their imaginations. Consider lobster arancini (stuffed rice balls) with mascarpone and basil-tarragon aioli at Lupo Italian Kitchen in Rehoboth Beach, or loaded lobster mashed potatoes with bacon, cheese, sour cream and chives at Fish On in Lewes. At Matt's Fish Camp in Lewes, where lobster is always a star, diners have tucked into lobster fried rice topped with a sunny side up egg. Catch 54 in Fenwick Island has paid tribute to the classics with lobster tails stuffed with crab imperial.
The lobster specials will change regularly over the course of the month. For more information, go to www.sodelconcepts.com.
