Sussex County Habitat for Humanity announced Ricky Pollitt as its new director of development, effective May 2025. In this role, Pollitt will lead fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives that support the organization’s mission of building affordable housing and strengthening communities throughout the county.

A native of the Eastern Shore, Pollitt brings a deep connection to the region and a passion for service. He comes to Habitat from Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore, where he spent nearly four years promoting youth education and economic empowerment. Before that, he worked as a journalist for The Daily Times and Delmarva Now, covering local stories that affected his community. Pollitt holds a degree in journalism and public relations from Salisbury University.

“Ricky’s dedication to community service and his background in communication and nonprofit leadership make him a great fit for Habitat,” said Kevin Gilmore, CEO of Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. “We’re thrilled to have him on board as we continue to grow and deepen our impact.”

Beyond his professional experience, Pollitt is an active community member. He earned his Eagle Scout award, volunteers with his church and currently serves as president of the Allen Lions Club. In his free time, Pollitt enjoys biking, hiking, canoeing and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
