Walmart donates $50,000 for Delaware Tech career services training

May 7, 2017

Delaware Technical Community College has received a $50,000 grant from Walmart to fund career services at its Stanton, Dover, and Georgetown campuses. The grant supports three career services employees, who assist graduates of entry-level training programs with the resources they need to secure a job, such as resume writing, interviewing skills and contacts with employers.

"The college's Workforce Development and Community Education Division offers a variety of training statewide designed to provide people with the skills to enter the state's workforce," said President Mark T. Brainard. "This partnership provides additional support to those who succeed in their training program, but might need some assistance taking that next step toward securing employment."

Many of Delaware Tech's Workforce Development programs are designed for those who are unemployed, underemployed or looking for new skills and training that can provide them with gainful employment. The curriculum for these programs is developed by business and industry leaders in each respective field who know where the trends are headed for each program. These advisory boards help determine the specific skills and criteria needed to obtain employment in each area of study.
