Wolfe seeks to represent 35th Representative District
As of Aug. 30, former Milford School Board President Gary Wolfe is the Democratic candidate for the 35th Representative District. The district covers areas from southwest Milford to Greenwood and Bridgeville.
The deadline for major party officials to file certificates of nomination for candidates for offices for which no member of their party has filed was noon, Sept. 1.
Wolfe, a resident of Greenwood, served 10 years on the Milford school board, including one as president. He served 5 years on the Delaware School Board Association board of directors, one as president. Wolfe served 16 years as a member of the Carlisle Fire Company, 13 years as a Boy Scout leader and is a current member of the Harrington Loyal Order of Moose.
In a prepared statement, Wolfe said he hopes to use his more than 25 years of experience as a businessman, and his school board service, to work to assure that today’s students learn the skills necessary to succeed in the job market of tomorrow. He said he wanted to provide state assistance in the creation of jobs paying a living wage here in Sussex County. He said he also wants to better the cooperation between state and local government in order to better plan for the growth taking place in our county.
This will be the third election in a row that Wolfe is running for a seat. In 2014, he ran against Sen. F. Gary Simpson in the 18th Senatorial District. In 2012, he challenged Sam Wilson in the District 2 Sussex County Council seat. In both races he received less than 40 percent of the vote.
Wolfe will be on the Tuesday, Nov. 8, general election ballot and will face Rep. Dave Wilson, who won the GOP primary with 70 percent of the vote.
