Yvonne Elizabeth Posey, registered nurse
Yvonne Elizabeth Posey, 94, of Wilmington, formerly of Millsboro, passed away March 25, 2018.
She was born in England and trained as an RN during World War II, where she met her first husband. A war bride, she got her citizenship in 1954. She worked at Crozier Hospital, and then for her family doctor. When Dr. Walters established the first family practice in Delaware at the Wilmington Medical Center, she worked to train over 40 residents in how to set up an office. Yvonne was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire and a member of St. George's Chapel in Harbeson. She enjoyed drinking tea and teaching ballroom dancing.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Wilbur H. Carroll; second husband Harrison Posey; and stepson Gary W. Posey. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Jim) Sacra, Janice Carroll and Steven Carroll; stepchildren Judith Bixler and John W. (Colleen) Posey; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. George's Chapel on Beaver Dam Road in Harbeson Monday, April 23, at noon. Interment will follow at 2 p.m., at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery on Route 113, Millsboro. Friends and family are invited to a tea reception at the Milford Senior Center after the interment.
