SEAFOOD

McDougall Adventurers headed out to sea early in the morning on our 65’ luxury sailing catamaran. All 36 of us were thrilled to spot whales, dolphins, stingrays and sea turtles. After snorkeling in chilly, but crystal clear waters, Chef Nicole served up our plant-based catch of the day--chickpea burgers with roasted red peppers, baked sweet potato fries, grilled mushrooms, and glazed onions. A hearty bean salad and Asian rice bowl topped off our satisfying seafood lunch.

Why no fish? Isn't seafood a good source of protein? Yes, seafood is animal protein and just like all other muscle meat, eating it causes rapid cell growth contributing to chronic disease and inflammation. In addition, it is also a source of high fat and pollutants. Dr. McDougall calls all animal protein, including seafood, FOOD POISON because our consumption of it over time sickens and kills us and the animals we consume. Dr. McDougall reminds us that 95% of sea life has disappeared in his lifetime largely due to overfishing and pollution. After a spectacular day at sea enjoying the grace and beauty of sea creatures great and small, there is no way I wish to contribute further to their demise.
