These Dogs Don't Bite

Hot dogs bite! That's the warning from the WHO (World Health Organization). Hot dogs along with bacon and other processed meats cause cancer. According to Mariana C. Stern, Ph.D., a co-author of the World Health Organization report that declared processed meats carcinogenic to humans, the public should be informed of the known risks of consuming processed meats so that they can make alternative choices.

We could try "fake meats" as an alternative, but they have high fat content and are made with isolated soy or pea proteins which pose their own health issues.  Why not check out the backyard garden, farmers market or produce isle for veggies with the right shape and size for the new NO BITE DOG?

Here's what I found in my search for an alternative to hot dogs: carrots, fingerling potatoes and zucchini! After steaming them until tender (10 minutes or so), I rolled them in fat free barbecue sauce and continued cooking for a few minutes.  Then added my favorite fixings and wrapped some in fresh chard leaves, others in Dave's Killer Bread, and served the rest unadorned with roasted spaghetti squash and garden salad. GOOD DOGS!
