Conley’s UMC to hold yard sale Nov. 21
Conley’s United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, to benefit the new building fund. Various items will be sold including clothes, shoes, furniture, odds and ends, home decor, holiday decorations, etc. The sale will be located in the pavilion at the new church property at 33104 Jolyns Way, off Camp Arrowhead Road, a half-mile from Peddlers Village shopping center on Route 24. St. Jude’s to celebrate women Nov. 22
The Msgr. Francis J. Desmond Columbiettes will host the Celebration of Women Through the Ages from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, at St. Jude the Apostle Parish Life Center, Lewes. The celebration will include a fashion show, tea sandwiches, beverages, ice cream sundaes, a photo shoot and Mary Kay makeover. The guest speaker will be Dr. Judy Pierson. Cookie walk set for Dec. 5 at Bethel UMC

Addiction recovery offered at Midway Baptist
A recovery group for addicts will be at 6:30 p.m., Thursdays, at Midway Baptist Church, located on Route 24 between Peddlers Village and Angola Road. This program will follow many of the traditional steps of other recovery programs but will add the step of relying on Christ to allow individuals a greater chance of success. The program also includes family members and friends of a person in addiction who are in search of support. It is not required that a person in addiction be involved in the group. The Unitarian Universalist Society of Southern Delaware invites the public to attend its Second Annual Church and Community Arts Benefit and Fundraiser from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at 8255 Hearns Pond Road in Seaford. This Afternoon Immersion event will feature the work of local artist Gabriel Jules, recently featured in the UU World Magazine fall 2009 edition. For more about her work, visit gabrieljules.com. Tickets for the event are $35 per person. Included in this tax-deductible contribution are light refreshments on Hearns Pond and a choice of an original, signed, hand-pulled etching by Jules. There will also be a raffle for a framed, colored woodcut, “Boy With Bird,” by well-known American artist Mervin Jules, 1912-93.
