Mediacom adds NFL Network and NFL RedZone for start of 2012 season

August 16, 2012

Mediacom customers in Sussex County and neighboring areas of Maryland will now find NFL Network and NFL Network HD on their cable television lineups, thanks to channel additions made in time for football fans to see a series of live preseason games that began Aug. 10. Mediacom also offers its customers the innovative NFL RedZone, a subscription channel that takes viewers from game to game for all Sunday games during live action as it occurs inside the 20-yard line.

NFL Network is a 24-hour, year-round television network devoted to the most popular sport in America. This year NFL Network expanded its regular-season, prime-time Thursday Night Football schedule to 13 games, which begin Sept. 13 and continue through mid-December.

“We’re pleased that our customers can now tune in and watch NFL Network as part of our popular digital sports package,” said Mediacom Regional Vice President Don Hagwell. “We added the channels at a great time, as this year’s "Thursday Night Football" will feature nine 2011 playoff teams, including six that won division titles. The regular season opener will be the 185th game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers – the most-played rivalry in NFL history.”

NFL Network is available in Mediacom’s Sports and Information Digital Package. It is located at channel 186 in standard definition and 766 in high definition. With other recent channel additions, Mediacom’s Sports and Information package has expanded to 21 channels, including NBC Sports Network, CBS Sports Network, Speed, Sportsman Channel, FOX Soccer, ESPNU, several regional networks from FOX College Sports and others.

NFL RedZone, produced by NFL Network, whips around every NFL game on Sunday afternoons, delivering the touchdowns and most exciting moments as they happen. When a team goes inside the 20-yard line, fans see the crucial plays live. The channel keeps fans up to date in real time, switching from game to game with live look-ins, highlights and a chance to see key plays. NFL RedZone is offered on a subscription basis and is found on Mediacom channel 187. The Sunday programming has grown in popularity, and Mediacom customers can easily add a season subscription or get more information by calling 1-877-302-7466.

“We are thrilled to add NFL Network and NFL RedZone to our lineup. We continue to invest to improve the products and services we provide to our customers, whether it’s new programming, more HD channels, faster internet speeds or better telephone service,” Hagwell said.

In addition to the series of Thursday night games, NFL Network will televise 10 preseason games during a four-week period that kicked off Aug. 10.

“Football fans will find so much to enjoy with this channel,” Hagwell said. “The programming goes well beyond big rivalries and marquee matchups, giving viewers a more comprehensive experience. And the same can be said for other specialty channels we’ve assembled in our Mediacom Sports Package – customers gain a deeper view across a wide variety of professional and collegiate sports competition.”
