Sea Witch Festival seeks artisans

Local chef Haley to host Food Chat Oct. 21
Local restaurateur Matt Haley will be hosting Food Chat at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Fish On in Lewes, in the Villages of Five Points. Now in its fifth year, Food Chat is a regular event for local and visiting food lovers and amateur chefs, styled as a television cooking show. In this installment of Food Chat, a guest chef will prepare traditional fall cuisine with Haley. Haley is the owner/creator of the SoDel Concepts restaurant group including the recently opened lupo di mare cucina italiano in downtown Rehoboth. Using only the freshest local ingredients available, Haley accentuates the natural flavor of the fish, meat and vegetables. His approach to food is minimalist; “less is more.” Food Chat attendees are given the opportunity to ask questions about the purchase, production and presentation of the food. There is no fee to attend and the public is invited.
Lorraine Hudson to exhibit work at Beach Bumz
Beach Bumz, located at 404 E. Savannah Road in Lewes, will display the works of local artist Lorraine Hudson. Her paintings are extremely dimensional, hand sculpted canvases using many types of paints and other mediums. Light House Productions reprises original show
Light House Productions will present an encore performance of its first show, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Lewes Senior Center. Packard Reath Gallery hosts new exhibit

Georgetown festival seeks sponsors
Wings & Wheels 2008, a Georgetown Fall Festival will debut from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Sussex County Airport in Georgetown. The festival will feature a fly-in of sonic jets and rides in vintage planes, and a car show with hundreds of classic roadsters. Gallery open house, reception set Oct. 18
As part of the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival weekend, the Kennedy Gallery at 140 Rehoboth Ave. will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18. This will be followed by a reception for special guest artist Mike Massengale, who will be available to sign the 2008 jazz fest poster from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome.
Wine, cheese, beer taste good in the park
The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park’s third annual Wine, Cheese and Beer Tasting fundraiser will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Officers Club in the park. This year’s funds will support state park rangers. ‘Bell, Book & Candle’ comes to Milton
The cast for the historic nonprofit Milton Theatre’s fall play, “Bell, Book, and Candle” has been selected. In John van Druten’s comedy, Gillian Holroyd, a bona fide witch, falls in love with publisher Shepherd Henderson. Gillian casts a spell on him, obliging him to dump his fiancée and rush to her side. But witches, unfortunately, cannot fall in love, which leads to a number of hilarious difficulties, where Gillian loses her witch’s powers; her cat, Pywacket; deserts her; and her aunt and warlock brother don’t quite know how to relate to Gillian as a human. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 24, 25, 31, and Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. Also, on Sundays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $18 for adults and $15 for ages 65+/18-. Choral society begins rehearsals
The Southern Delaware Choral Society welcomes returning members and interested individuals to attend rehearsals from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays in the Georgetown Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 203 N. Bedford St., Georgetown. Choral Society members will immediately begin rehearsing in preparation for its Dec. 13-14 concerts. In addition to traditional Christmas carols, several challenging pieces will be featured. Under the musical direction of John Ranney, the society is a volunteer organization that performs a largely classical repertoire with fall and spring concerts.
