Edward C. Fogg, agriculture salesman
Edward C. Fogg, 84, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Fogg was born June 22, 1923, in Shiloh, N.J., to the late Edward S. and Irma Miller Fogg.
Mr. Fogg was in agriculture and automotive sales most of his life. While he was working in Washington, D.C., he delivered the presidential limo for the John F. Kennedy inauguration in 1961.
He graduated in the class of 1940 from Bridgeton (New Jersey) High School. He loved cars, horses, and used to enjoy trapping muskrat, fishing and vacations with family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Edward H. Fogg, in 1985.
Mr. Fogg is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine Miller Fogg; a son, Eric Fogg and his wife Janet of Harbeson; a daughter, Ellen Holtz and her husband Brian of Bethlehem, Pa.; a sister, Ruth M. Fogg of Lewes; two grandchildren, Diana Fogg of Salisbury, Md., and Joseph Holtz of Doyleston, Pa., and his close canine friend, Duchess of Norway.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call at noon. The Rev. Gary Knapp of East Gate Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Millsboro.

Clark S. Rodney, Chrysler supervisor
Clark S. Rodney, 65, of Millsboro and formerly of Denver, Colo., passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mr. Rodney was born Sept. 9, 1942, son of Charles and Margaret (Sheldon) Rodney.
Clark was a training center supervisor for the Chrysler Corporation for 38 years, retiring in May 2007. He was a member of the Chrysler CAP program, a master technician of the Association of Service Excellence (ASE) and a member of the American Society of Engineers. Mr. Rodney was also a member of Wheat Ridge Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheat Ridge, Colo., and a member of Grace of God Lutheran Church in Millsboro.
Clark loved anything to do with the water including boating, fishing, crabbing and clamming. He also enjoyed “tinkering” with electronics.
In addition to his mother, Margaret Rodney of Millsboro, he is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Norma (Smith) Rodney; a son, David Rodney of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a daughter, Elisabeth Rodney of Florida. Clark is also survived by his “adopted family,” David and Kelly Berg and their children Riley and Kyle, all of Mason, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Maytown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Clark’s name to the American Heart Assoc., 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

James E. Major Jr., decorated veteran
James E. Major Jr., 87, of Dagsboro and formerly of Columbus, N.J., passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008, at home.
He was a retired major, USMC and a New Jersey school administrator. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served with the 1st, 2nd and 6th Marine divisions.
Mr. Major was a life member of VFW Post 7234, MOAA, the 1st state Marine Corps League, 1st Marine Division, KWVA, NRA, the Knights of Columbus 11285 and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach.
James also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia Major; two daughters Carol Lynn Major and Sueann M. Bennett DVM; a brother-in-law Bruce Post; a sister-in-law Eileen Esgrow and her husband Buck; two grandsons, Jamie and Stanley Worrell; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 25 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 8:30-10:15 a.m. at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 26, at Calvary Cemetery, 2398 Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, N.J.

Daniel Alan Clark, bricklayer
Daniel Alan Clark, 45, of Dagsboro and formerly of Moon Twp., Pa., passed away June 18, 2008, at home.
Son of the late Thomas F. Clark, Daniel attended Moon Area School District and had worked as a bricklayer in Delaware.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Krakosh Cooper and stepfather, Gary Cooper of Hickory, Pa.; his grandmother, Anna Krakosh of McDonald, Pa.; a sister, Mary Ellen Hunsberger of Moon Twp.; three brothers, Thomas M. Clark and wife Patty of Delaware, Jeffery J. Clark and wife Marsha of Glenwillard, Pa.,and Frank D. Clark, also of Delaware; his stepbrothers, James and Dennis Cooper and Sharon Allison; his nieces and nephews, T.J., April, Laura and Matthew Hunsberger, Brandy and Jamie Clark and Amanda Marsiglio.
A private service will be held at Copeland’s Moon Twp. Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, with the Rev. Wayne Jackson officiating. Private interment will take place in Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Moon Twp., Pa.

William S. Ingram Jr., Delaware Bay pilot
William “Bill” Ingram Jr. passed away at home on Thursday, June 19, 2008.
Bill was born in Lewes on May 13, 1932. He was the son of William S. Ingram and Florence “Scotty” Ingram.
An Eagle Scout, Bill graduated from Lewes High School in 1950. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute on an athletic and academic scholarship. Bill left in order to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot on the Delaware Bay and River.
He retired in 1993 after safely piloting 5,780 ships. Bill was the first vice president of the Lewes Historical Society and was recently awarded the Dr. James Marvil Lifetime Service Award. History had always been one of Bill’s passions.
Bill’s first wife, Mary Louise Joseph, died in April 1984.
He is survived by his second wife, Doris Valk Ingram; four children, William S. Ingram III and his wife Tara, Mary Prentice Yff and her husband Christopher, Elizabeth B. Leimgruber and her husband William, Allen M. Swett and his wife Catherine; and five grandchildren: Sacha and Scott Ingram, Michael Yff, Sara and A. Marshall Swett Jr.
The Ingrams have a second home in Weston, Vt. They are members of the Old Parish Church in Weston, where Bill sang in the church choir. Bill was actively involved with the Weston Antique Show for 10 years. Bill’s greatest joy in life, beyond his family and tractors, was being with people.
He was one of those rare men whom everyone loved.
He was funny and just wished to please and care for all whom he met.

Ronald Richards, enjoyed gardening
Ronald E. Richards, 63, of Timonium, Md., and Rehoboth Beach, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
He was born June 20, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Emmitt Louis and Myrtle Marie (Sommers) Richards.
Ron loved the beach, gardening and antiques. He enjoyed his many friends and a good martini.
He is survived by his partner and best friend of 10 years, Ed Shipley; his sister and best friend, Gail Richards-Cabelly; his brother-in-law, Robert Cabelly; many dear friends; and his faithful pup, Mac.

Margaret Henriksen, devoted mother
Margaret R. “Marge” Henriksen, 93, of Lewes, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro.
She was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Oak Park, Ill., daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Marion (Peterson) Stoneman.
Mrs. Henriksen and her late husband of 67 years met and married in Chicago, Ill. After high school, Marge attended business school and then worked as head cashier for Montgomery Ward until she started her family. The Henriksens raised their children in Westfield, N.J. Marge was devoted to her family. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, and was active in her church. Marge loved music and played the piano.
While living both in Chicago and New Jersey she was a soloist in her church choirs. She was also treasurer of her church women’s circle. In 1989 the Henriksens relocated to Lewes and enjoyed their retirement years at the beach where they were members of the Lewes Yacht Club, the Lewes Historical Society and Bethel United Methodist Church.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Henriksen Jr. (2004) and by her son, William Robert Henriksen III (1983).
She is survived by her son, the Hon. John E. Henriksen and his wife Virginia of Lewes; her daughter, Margaret H. Maull and her husband H. Edward Maull Jr. of Lewes; and four grandchildren, Karen E. Maull, Carolyn T. Maull, Christina H. Maull and John C. Henriksen.

Shawn ‘Doc’ Dougherty, avid Red Sox fan
Shawn R. “Doc” Dougherty, 44, of Dover, passed away suddenly at home Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
Shawn was born Dec. 5, 1963, in Pawtucket, R.I., son of Leesona F. Dougherty and William L. Dougherty.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest during his short life.
He had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends most of all, followed closely by riding Harleys with his best friend, Larry Solomon.
Shawn was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and could often be found watching games with his mom, Lee.
Shawn is survived by his parents, both of Dover. He also leaves to mourn his loss his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Carl Mears of Milford; his sister, Erin Sebastian of Dover; and his sister, Meghan Brooks of Milton. Shawn will also be missed immensely by his nephew and his wife, Mark and Tobi Schafer of Dover; his nieces, Ashley Mears of Milford, Emily and Tori Sebastian of Dover and Ava Kaser of Milton; and his great-nephew, Trent “Cliff” Schafer of Dover.
Lastly, Shawn leaves behind a group of lifelong friends, most importantly Larry and Denise Solomon of Frederica, whose love and support helped him through some of the most challenging times of his life. His family thanks them for their unwavering devotion to their son and brother.
Funeral services were held at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.

Dorthelene Smith, hospital founder
Dorthelene V. (Dottie) Smith, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in Bayhealth at Milford Memorial Hospital.
Dottie was born in Webster Springs, W.Va., on Feb. 1, 1936, daughter of the late Price and Edna (Oldaker) Brady.
Dottie was a founder of West Virginia University Hospital Inc. and remained in her position at WVU Hospital until becoming disabled with lung cancer in 1985, a cancer of which she was a 23-year survivor.
Dottie was a member of the Milford Senior Center Bodacious Red Hats Society.
She attended the Milford Church of the Nazarene and also the Sunday night prayer and worship services at Cedar Neck Church.
In addition to her parents, Dottie is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda; three brothers: Clarence, James and Roy; and two sisters, Margaret Nicholson of Morgantown, W.Va. and Maxine Peserek of Geneva, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband, John Smith, with whom she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in April 2007. Dottie is also survived by a son, Michael Smith of Milton; two daughters: Karen Kapcsos of Dover and Julie Roupe of Morgantown; a brother, Roger Brady, also of Morgantown; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service was held at the Milford Church of the Nazarene, Milford, with burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

Elizabeth J. Collins, enjoyed bingo
Elizabeth J. “Pixie” Collins, 62, of Millsboro passed away Saturday June 21, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
She was a past member of the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and she attended the Line United Methodist Church in Whitesville.
Pixie enjoyed playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Preston E. Lewis, in 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Leroy C. Collins and Carmel J. Collins; five brothers, Thomas E. Lewis Jr., William Lewis, Robert Lewis, Samuel Lewis and Melvin Lewis; two sisters, Judy Shanahan and Margaret Lewis; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, June 26, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Line Community Cemetery in Whitesville.

Thomas Stuart Brown, paper co. retiree
Thomas Stuart Brown, 80, of Lewes, formerly of Weston, Conn., passed away peacefully at his residence Saturday, June 21, 2008.
He was born September 24, 1927, in Brookline, Mass., son of the late Herbert John and Margaret Stuart Brown.
Mr. Brown was born and raised in Brookline, where he attended the Brookline Baptist Church. After his marriage to Barbara Ann Burbidge Brown in November 1958, he was active in the Park Street Church in Boston. He lived in Connecticut for 35 years where he was a greeter, usher and youth leader in the Hope Evangelical Free Church, Wilton, Conn. He and his wife relocated to Lewes two-and-a-half years ago.
Before his retirement, Mr. Brown was a daily commuter from Connecticut to Manhattan where he worked for the Mead Corporation. Paper was his specialty, dealing primarily with book publishers and anyone else needing fine paper. Mr. Brown developed a “Paper Knowledge School” for the Mead Corporation. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing tennis.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara Ann Brown; a daughter, Pamela A. Hughes and her husband Johnny of Baltimore, Md; a son, T. Stuart Brown of Florida; two brothers and a sister, Herbert J. Brown Jr. of Maryland, and Andrew Brown and Margaret Brown, both of Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with the Rev. Larry Wanaselja officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. Entombment will be at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes. The family suggests ontributions be made to the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 5 Lighthouse Plaza, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

Elwood W. Stevens, retired truck driver
Elwood W. Stevens, 68, of Ocean View, passed Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Stevens was born December 13, 1939, in Frankford, to the late William C. and Nellie D. Parsons Stevens. He was a delivery truck driver for Suburban Propane in Millsboro for many years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Stevens attended Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro. He was a member of the Delaware Mobile Surf Fishing Association and the Assateague Island Surf Fishing Association. He had a love for Dodge trucks and a special love for his Pekinese dog “Biscuit.”
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Mary Elizabeth Long Stevens, in 1996; and his sister, Alberta Stevens.
Mr. Stevens is survived by two brothers, John L. Stephens and his wife Shirley of Clarksville, and Clifton Stevens; and by his in-laws with whom he was close, the Long family.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 26, at the Millsboro Cemetery, State Street, Millsboro. The Rev. Robert A. Hudson will officiate.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. The family asks that contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Madeline M. Whiteley, Elks Lodge member
Madeline Marie Lloyd Whiteley, 85, of Smyrna, formerly of Rehoboth Beach, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. She was former president of the Ladies of The Elks, Lewes, and became one of the first female members of the Elks Lodge. She had originally retired from the Drexel Hill, Pa. area in 1981. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Whiteley, in 2004. She is survived by her two sons, Robert A. Whiteley of Catonsville, Md., and Edward C. Whiteley of Pensacola Beach, Fla., granddaughter Christine Whiteley of Anderson, S.C., and grandson Stephen Whiteley of Jacksonville, N.C. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 28, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Route 1 at Five Points, Lewes. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park.
