Ednamae Paley, Rehoboth resident
Ednamae Paley, 77, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away quietly at her home Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, surrounded by her family.
Ednamae was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and her family moved to Rehoboth Beach shortly thereafter. She graduated from Rehoboth High School in 1948.
She retired in 1994 after many years in the insurance industry working for Anderson Stokes in Rehoboth and then as manager and partner in the Williams Insurance Agency in Rehoboth Beach. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed activity in the Sussex County Republican Club. She was a member of Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown, where she enjoyed playing golf. Her many interests included playing bridge with her bridge club, reading and spending time with the family at her pool.
She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Paley; and her sister and brother in-law, Beverly and Emory Brittingham.
She is survived by her two nieces, Mechelle Rust and her husband Victor of Rehoboth Beach and Tracy Brittingham of Milford; a nephew, J. Keith Brittingham of Lewes; two great-nieces, Ashley Rust of Rehoboth Beach and Kelby Jefferson of Milford; two great-nephews, Christopher Rust of Rehoboth Beach and Trevor Jefferson of Milford; and one great-great nephew, Hayden Roy of Rehoboth Beach.
Funeral services will beheld at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.
Family and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Burial will be in the Epworth Methodist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Theresa DiBuonaventura, Philadelphia native
Theresa DiBuonaventura, 83, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of southwest Philadelphia, Pa., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Brandywine Seaside Pointe in Rehoboth.
She was born Nov. 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Raymond and Lena Cirillo.
Theresa was a southwest Philadelphia resident most of her life and was married to Albert DiBuonaventura until his death on Aug. 14, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Bailey of Philadelphia, and Denise Grabowski and her husband Daniel of Fort Myers, Fla.; her son, Albert DiBuonaventura and his wife Donna of Mickleton, N.J.; her granddaughter, Rachel DiBuonaventura of Mickleton; and her sister, Louise Shaffer and her husband Ray of Rehoboth Beach.
Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, Pa.
Relatives and friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike at the corner of Lynn Boulevard, Upper Darby, Pa.
A funeral procession to the church will follow the calling hours. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Delaware County, Pa.

Carol H. Ferguson, home consultant
Carol H. Ferguson, 52, of Long Neck, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving friends and family Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 at her home.
She was born in Wilmington on Dec. 17, 1955, the daughter of Harold F. Sr. and Ann Vari Haigh. Carol was a home consultant for New Dimension Homes in the Pot-Nets area. She had a strong bond with her friends, customers and community.
Carol was an exceptional mother whose courage, faith and love touched many.
In addition to her mother, Ann L. Haigh, she is survived by a son, Thomas Michael Ferguson; a brother, Harold F. Haigh Jr.; a sister, Ann Louise King; a good friend, T. Michael Ferguson; and kitties Bella and Lacie.
A funeral service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, where friends may call after 5 p.m. at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Millsboro. Interment will be held privately at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions in Carol’s name to a charity of choice.

Harvey James Bunting, retired civil engineer
Harvey James Bunting. 84, of Harbeson, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Mr. Bunting was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Bethany Beach, son of the late John Gunzer Bunting and the late Florrie Belle (Fenton) Bunting. He was a retired civil engineer with his career covering service at Ft. Miles, Lewes, from 1942 to late 1950s and then at the Dover Air Force Base until July 1980, when he retired. He was a member of the Groome Untied Methodist Church for many years. His involvement in the community included being a 32nd degree Mason and past master (1987) of the Jefferson Lodge, Lewes, a member and past patron of the Georgetown chapter 9 Order of the Eastern Star, past grand patron of state chapter Order of the Eastern Star from 1969-1970, member of the Scottish Rite, member and former Clown “Eyeballs” at Nur Temple, a founding member of the Delaware Colonials, and past associate Bethel guardian 5 Independent Order of Job’s Daughters. He also had served as a scouting coordinator for the Boy Scouts.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased his by brothers Gunzer, Roy, George and Alvin Bunting and sister Evva Townsend.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, with whom he celebrated their anniversary on Aug. 9, Anne Louise (Wagamon) Bunting; his daughter, Mary Lou (Bunting) Lawlor and her husband Mark of Wilmington; three sons, Stephen K. Bunting of Alexandria, Va., Thomas A. Bunting and his fiancée Jodie Kelly of Annapolis, Md., and the Rev. Dr. Jay E. Bunting and his wife the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Bunting of Oxford, Md.; his granddaughter Jessica Newell and her husband Jeff of Wilmington; his great-grandson Andrew Patrick Newell; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, with the Rev. William Hopkins officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home, where OES and Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral at Coolspring Cemetery, near Lewes.

Catherine J. Cooke, homemaker
Catherine “Mildred” Jameson Cooke, 92, formerly of Clinton, Md., and Washington, D.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in the Milford Center Nursing Home, Milford.
Mrs. Cooke was born in Bel Alton, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbert T. Cooke and Linton Schell; and her siblings, Ellen, Anna, Paul and Hayden.
She was the mother of Thomas (Ruth), Larry (Sandra) and Dale; the grandmother of 10; and great-grandmother of 18. She was the sister of Virginia, Mary and Edward; and is also survived my many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Md., with interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Md.

Betty Burkey Seemans, former business owner
Betty Burkey Seemans of Marshallton, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at home.
Born in Gap, Pa., Oct. 17, 1926, the daughter of Roy Herman and Sarah Neuhauser Burkey, she was a graduate of Conrad High School. She grew up on Delcastle Farm where her father was superintendent.
She was employed by Hercules Powder Company and Guardian Fence Company.
She was also an owner of Blanche’s Apparel Store in Middletown, and a licensed real estate salesperson.
Her first husband, John Seemans; her second husband, Lambert Seemans, her brothers Homer, Donald and Roy; and her sister, Olga preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey, former Rehoboth Art League president, and his wife, well-known Cape Region artist Pam; her daughter, Beverly, and a son-in-law, Jack Ford; and three grandchildren, Misty, Sterling and Jordan Seemans.
A kind and gentle woman, she will be greatly missed, especially by her faithful and loving dog Tammy.
Services were held at McCrery Memorial Chapel, Wilmington, with burial in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.

Clarence Carl Griffith Sr., DuPont retiree
Clarence Carl “Griff” Griffith Sr., 73, of New Castle, joined our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008.
Born in Danville, W.Va., April 30, 1935, Mr. Griffith was the son of the late Clarence A. Griffith and Elva E. Chambers Griffith of Whitesville, Lincoln County, W.Va., and the grandson of the late Carl and Lilly Chambers.
Shortly after his graduation from Scott High School, he moved to Delaware in 1955, where he accepted a position with the DuPont Company at the Edgemoor site. He would go on to work for DuPont for the next 38 years, retiring as a plant supervisor in 1994.
A 32nd Degree Mason, Mr. Griffith was a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Wilmington, and was a member of the Moose Club of New Castle. He was a gifted athlete throughout his life and played fast-pitch softball during the late 1950s and early 1960s for many leagues, including DuPont, Christiana Fire Company and Fairwinds Community. He also bowled with the Golden Age League on Friday mornings at Bowlerama, and greatly enjoyed travel, football, horse racing and the casino at Delaware Park. Most of all Mr. Griffith delighted in spending time with his beloved family. His children and grandchildren were very dear to him, and he found great comfort in having his great-grandchildren around him. He loved and was dearly loved by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Geri Grabowski Griffith; three children, Roni Griffith and her companion, John Hensley, of New Castle, Lisa Orr and her husband, Dave, of New Castle and Clarence C. “Skip” Griffith Jr., and his wife, Betsey, of Wilmington; a family friend, Nancy Griffith of Bear; sister, Karen McClure of Charleston, W.Va.; a brother- and sister-in-law, Steve and Martha Grabowski of Rehoboth; a brother- and sister-in-law, Earl and Irene Marcotte of Rehoboth; grandchildren, Sabrina Griffith, Casey Griffith, David Orr and his wife, Chrissy, Scott Orr, Tyler Hensley, Chandler Hensley, Dustin Hensley, John Hensley, Josh and Yarielys (Skip’s step-children); great-grandchildren, Shane, Julian, Joslyn, Shyan, Julianna, Aubrey, and Logan; and nieces and nephews.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Odyssey Hospice and Home Health Service. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Bear, with interment in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Louise C. Moore, Beebe retiree
Louise C. Moore passed on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, from Cadbury at Lewes to be with her Lord.
Born in Oswego, N.Y., July 4, 1909, she was the daughter of Hassell and Maude Lounglgy Clayton. In 1945 she married James A. Moore, also from Oswego, but teaching at Lewes High School. She joined him in Lewes and worked in the business office at Beebe Hospital until she retired. She was still a member of the Beebe Hospital Auxiliary.
Louise was a member of Lewes Presbyterian Church, were she served as the leader of the Mary Martha Circle until 2005. She was a member of the Kelly Class; after she was unable to help with the Rummage Sale, she bought the hot dogs for workday.
Her husband died in January 1980, and she was predeceased by a brother, Hassell, and her sister Margaret. She is survived by her brother, Orville Clayton, of Bradenton, Fla.; a niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in the Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Samuel Ray Hopkins, retired electrician
Samuel “Sam” Ray Hopkins, 66, of Millsboro, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Sam was a retired electrician serving the area for over 40 years. He loved carpentry, plumbing, playing horseshoes, bingo and bidding at auctions during the family reunions. He served four years in the Air Force. He was a past member of the VFW Post 10638 in Millsboro. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Millsboro. His father, Curtis D. Hopkins, precedes him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret A. Powell Hopkins; his mother, Mary E. Watson Hopkins of Millsboro; his brothers, Daniel C. Hopkins of Ellendale, John S. Hopkins of Millsboro, Robert L. Hopkins (Evelyn) of Millsboro and Nathaniel Hopkins (Edith) of Longo, Md.; a sister, Moezell Hyland (Harvey) of Laurel; his aunt, Annie McLaughlin (John) of Baltimore, Md.; his uncle, Joe Watson of Baltimore, Md.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 South Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday. Internment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Pastor Claudia Waters will officiate.

Lou Ann Stine, Lewes homemaker
Lou Ann Stine, 53, of Lewes, formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Lou Ann was born in Baltimore, daughter of Richard and Betty Fenters.
She was a homemaker.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lynn Stine-Jones.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Kelly June Stine-Earheart of Manchester, Md., and Buffy Christina Stine-Weitzel of Lewes, seven brothers and sisters and six grandchildren.
A visitation was held Friday evening, Aug. 15.

Henry O. Wirtschafter, insurance agent
Henry “Hank” O. Wirtschafter, 66, of Lewes, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, in his home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late William M. Rossenfeld and Miriam M. Wirtschafter.
Mr. Wirtschafter was a graduate of Central High School, Philadelphia, and a graduate from Drexel University, class of 1964. He was very involved with the alumni of both institutions.
He was an insurance agent for AFLAC and was also the communications director for the Seaside Jewish Community Center, Rehoboth Beach.
Researching his family genealogy was a hobby of Mr. Wirtschafter’s, and he acquired many friends throughout the country during the process. He was a very kind and generous man. He was an avid sports fan, especially of college football, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Flyers.
A loving father, Mr. Wirtschafter is survived by his son, Michael H. Wirtschafter and his wife Barbara of Newark; his stepdaughter, Lisa Kane-Robbins of Rehoboth Beach; and many cousins.
His most recent spouse and love of his life, Joanne Kane, passed away Aug. 7, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be private.

Robert J. Gaydos, crane operator
Robert J. Gaydos, 76, of Lewes, formerly of Eagleville, Pa., passed away quietly at his home with wife Peg at his side, Tuesday, Aug. 12.
He was born in Coaldale, Pa., son of the late John and Mary Kusko Gaydos.
He was a 1949 graduate of Coaldale High School. Robert served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Alan Wood Steel Co. as a crane operator, where he also enjoyed playing on the softball team with coworkers and was home run champion.
He was of the Catholic faith and a firm believer in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had an artistic side that manifested in music, arts and crafts. Moving from Eagleville to Lewes, he finished a home for himself and wife Peggy. At their home in West Bay Park, he enjoyed friends, crabbing, clamming, golf cart rides and splitting wood for his wood stove during winter months.
He is survived by his loving wife Margaret “Peg” Rutter Gaydos; children, Bruce Gaydos (Mary Lynn), Colleen Johnson, John Gaydos, Steve Gaydos (Cindy) and Robert Gaydos; four grandchildren, Lauren, Valerie, Vicky and Justin Gaydos; a brother, Edward Gaydos (Marie); two sisters, Dolores McDonald and Barbara Gaydos; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday August 19, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes.

Joanne M. Kane, local Realtor
Joanne M. Kane, 66, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Newark, went to attend her “Welcome Home Party” in Heaven’s beautiful garden, to celebrate being born to eternal life with our Lord and departed loved ones, Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, daughter of the late Isaia Veltre and Mary Prosceno Veltre. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1959. Joanne was a Realtor for over 36 years, with Harris-Hanby, Patterson-Schwartz and RE/MAX, and loved helping people find their perfect home.
She enjoyed good times with close friends and family, creative home projects, cooking, gardening, movies, shopping, charity events and loved dancing to the oldies.
She is very much loved, will be dearly missed, leaves behind many happy, cherished memories and was the light of many lives.
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kane-Robbins; stepson Michael Wirtschafter and his wife Barbara; former spouse, Thomas E. Kane; sisters, Concetta Blunt and Anna Nash; brothers, John Veltre and Francis Veltre; many nieces and nephews; and Sadie, her dear furry friend. Her former spouse, Henry Wirtschafter, died Sunday, Aug. 10. Joanne was predeceased by sisters, Yolanda Ciccone, Josephine Pivinski and Elizabeth Pivinski; brother Anthony Veltre; and Baxter, her faithful, furry companion.
She will be honored with a Memorial Mass at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at St. Edmond’s Church, King Charles Avenue and Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Carol Jean Gardner, Franklin Mint retiree
Carol Jean Gardner, 61, of Lewes, formerly of Chadds Ford, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1947, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Jackson and Ann Weitzmann Gardner.
Jean expressed her creative talents through both her professional and personal life. She truly loved her advertising career and retired from the Franklin Mint. She then shared her creative writing and artistic talents with her beloved grandchildren and many friends at the Delaware beach.
A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, Jean is survived by her three daughters, Dr. Anne Annone and her husband Philip of Wilmington, Sara Chetkowski and her husband David of Coatesville, Pa., and Molly Glasschroeder of Chadds Ford; one son, Ben Glasschroeder of Chadds Ford; six grandchildren, Ben, Henry and Evan Annone of Wilmington, and Emma, Peter and Ian Chetkowski of Coatesville; three sisters, Ellen Ann Gardner, Mary Ann Haremski, and Ellen Jaeger, all of Royal Oak, Mich.; one brother, Charles Gardner of New Jersey; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25, with the Rev. John Hynes officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Avis M. Williamson, retired manager
Avis Marie Williamson, 91, of Oak Orchard, formerly of Boothwyn, Pa., passed Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at the Atlantic Shores Nursing Center, Millsboro.
Mrs. Williamson was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Danville, Pa., to the late John and Mary Ann Cooper Jones.
Mrs. Williamson was a department manager with Strawbridge & Clothier in Wilmington, retiring in 1974 after many years of service.
She was a member of the Marcus Hook Baptist Church, Linwood, Pa. and the Oak Orchard Community Church, Millsboro.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Wesley Williamson in 1998, and her son, Roger L. Williamson, in 1977.
Mrs. Williamson is survived by two daughters, Gale M. Simpson of St. Charles, Mi. and Linda J. Westerside of Keenwick Sound; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Oak Orchard Community Church, 32615 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, where friends may call at 10 a.m. The Rev. J. Allen Miller will officiate the service. Committal and interment will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood.

Ambrose ‘Bud’ Vogt Sr., retired sales manager
Ambrose Edward “Bud” Vogt Sr., 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
He was born Feb. 2, 1922 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Ambrose B. and Clara Hamilton Vogt.
Mr. Vogt had worked as a sales manager for D&H Distributing Co. in Baltimore. Upon his retirement in 1985, he and his wife relocated to Delaware. He became active in the Kiwanis Club in Rehoboth Beach, lending his support to hippotherapy for children and volunteering for many other fundraising activities.
He was an usher at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church and a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society in Rehoboth Beach. During World War II, he served as a pilot with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rita Marie Brockmeyer.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia L. McKaye Vogt; two sons, Ambrose E. Vogt Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas Lee Vogt and his wife Dianne T. of Millersville, Md.; a daughter, Patricia Vogt Beeks and her husband Kenneth D. Beeks of Clifton, Va.; three grandchildren, Vernon Keys and his wife Heidi, Andrew S. Beeks and Claire R. Beeks; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Cameron Keys.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, Rehoboth Beach; Fr. Raymond Forester was the celebrant. Interment with military honors will be at 10:45 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25, at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1080 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Md. Arrangements were handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

Gary Alan Scrutchfield, technical writer
Gary Alan Scrutchfield, 62, of Aurora, Colo., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in The Medical Center of Aurora from complications of heart disease.
Born Dec. 13, 1945, in Dover, he was the son of the late Roy and Jeanne Scrutchfield. He was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School in Dover in 1963 and the University of Delaware in 1967 with a degree in chemical engineering. Upon graduation, his work took him to several locations around the country, the last 17 years working in Aurora for TTS/KBC as a technical writer. He enjoyed his challenging work and his various friends and hobbies including bridge, reading, watching sports and great “debates” with friends. While in California, Gary was very involved and successful in coaching Little League teams and continued to enjoy sports, especially his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, even though arthritis at a later point kept him as more of a spectator.
He is survived by a brother, Ronald Mark Scrutchfield of Lewes; a sister, Carol Ann Matarese of Keswick, Va.; a niece, Kimberly Monroe of Trinity, N.C.; nephews, Brian Matarese of Wilmington, and Andrew and Dan Scrutchfield of Lewes; an uncle, Joe Poyner of Dover; and several cousins. He is also survived by his loyal friend of many years, JoAnn DiStefano of Aurora, and her family.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Horan & McConaty’s Rocky Mountain Memorial Park.
Another memorial to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at a later date in his hometown of Dover.

Vivian S. Lombardo, Manor House volunteer
Vivian S. Lombardo, 90, of Seaford, and formerly of Salisbury, Md., and Milford, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at the Methodist Manor House, one month before her 91st birthday.
Born in Milford, she was the daughter of Adelaide (Carroll) Shute (Bryhn) and Raymond E. Shute. She was the salutatorian of her Milford High School class of 1935.
Because her father owned a chicken hatchery, she was affectionately called “Eggie” by many in her hometown.
She was a secretarial studies graduate of the Bates School of Business in Philadelphia, as well as an honors graduate of the secretarial program at the Thompson School of Business, in Wilmington. She would have loved going to college, she told her children, but the Great Depression made that financially impossible.
She was married for 21 years to the late Lawrence P. Isaacs. They had three daughters. They later divorced.
Mrs. Lombardo was employed as a bank secretary for several months at the Seaford branch of the Wilmington Trust bank, until health challenges led her back to homemaking. For 20 years, Mrs. Lombardo enjoyed volunteering at the Methodist Manor House, in the gift and ice cream shop.
She was a member of the Seaford Presbyterian Church.
She loved to read. That reading spurred her hobby of filling spiral notebooks with quotations of noted persons’ philosophical musings on leading a life of courage and dignity.
She had a placid, upbeat personality, as well as a gentle wit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas C. Shute; her husband of 39 years, John Lombardo; and her stepdaughter, Salvatrice “Sally” L. Rebman.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay I. Greene and her husband James of Lincoln; her daughter, Susan C. Isaacs of Milton; and her daughter, Beth Isaacs of Milton.
She is also survived by her grandson, Bernhard “Ben” Tebbens and his wife Glenda of Lincoln; a granddaughter, Bonnie K. Twilley and her husband Kevin of Lincoln; her stepson-in-law, James Rebman of Laurel; her step-grandsons John Rebman of Seaford and Steven Rebman of Laurel; her step-granddaughter Michelle R. Layton of Bridgeville; four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; her cousin Carroll Dorsey of Oakhurst, Calif.; and her friend for over 75 years, Dorothy “Dot” Joseph Callaway, of Bridgeville. She also cherished the many caring Methodist Manor House staffers and volunteers who befriended her during her seven years of residence there.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford. Friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Dr. R. Jervis Cooke, pastor of the Methodist Manor House, will officiate. Interment will follow at Milford Community Cemetery, 300 S. Rehoboth Blvd.

Oral R. Donovan, Sussex Central alumnus
Oral Robert Donovan, 43, of Long Neck, near Millsboro, passed on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 in Georgetown, as the result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Donovan was born Oct. 28, 1964, in Salisbury, Md,. to Alfred Donovan of Millsboro and the late Edna Dean Donovan who passed in 1993.
He currently worked at Hardee’s in Millsboro and was formerly employed as a poultry worker and formerly worked at Food Lion in Millsboro. Robert attended the Beth El Tabernacle in Clarksville, and he was a member of the 1983 class of Sussex Central High School, Georgetown.
In addition to his father, Robert is survived by his brother Brad Donovan of Bridgeville; his companion Ann Knauer; and his aunt and uncle, Virginia and Gene Breeding of Denton, Md.
Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call at 1 p.m. The Rev. Robert A. Hudson will officiate. Interment will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery, Dagsboro.

Ednamae Paley, Rehoboth resident
Ednamae Paley, 77, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away quietly at her home Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, surrounded by her family.
Ednamae was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and her family moved to Rehoboth Beach shortly thereafter. She graduated from Rehoboth High School in 1948.
She retired in 1994 after many years in the insurance industry working for Anderson Stokes in Rehoboth and then as manager and partner in the Williams Insurance Agency in Rehoboth Beach. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed activity in the Sussex County Republican Club. She was a member of Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown, where she enjoyed playing golf. Her many interests included playing bridge with her bridge club, reading and spending time with the family at her pool.
She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Paley; and her sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Emory Brittingham.
She is survived by her two nieces, Mechelle Rust and her husband Victor of Rehoboth Beach, and Tracy Brittingham of Milford; a nephew, J. Keith Brittingham of Lewes; two great-nieces, Ashley Rust of Rehoboth Beach and Kelby Jefferson of Milford; two great-nephews, Christopher Rust of Rehoboth Beach and Trevor Jefferson of Milford; and one great-great-nephew, Hayden Roy of Rehoboth Beach.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

Niyam A. Mano Jr., Laurel resident
Niyam A. ‘Butch’ Mano Jr., 61, of Laurel, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
Born Oct. 17, 1946, in Dover, he was the son of Niyam A. Mano Sr. of Dover and the late Catherine Tigner Mano. He is survived by his wife, Emily Mano; four sisters, Paris Mano of Stuart, Fla., Cathy King and her husband Bruce of Lewes, Melody Knotts and her husband Dick of Ocean View, and Alisa Rhodes and her husband John of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove St., Delmar. Family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

Susan Anna Davidson, “Poetography” creator
Susan Anna Davidson was born May 8, 1939, in Camden, N.J. to Laura May Moore Davidson and Walter Bray Davidson. She died Friday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2008, at the age of 69 at her residence in Tomball, Texas.
She is survived by her only child, daughter Lorraine Renee Fields; and granddaughters, Lee Ann and Jessica Fields. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Walter Davidson of Delaware; and her sister Fredonia “Faye” Davidson of Delaware. Susan was predeceased by her sister, Martha Hitchens Gillis.
Susan accomplished many great things while she was alive on this earth. She was an award-winning photographer, well-versed poet, and creator of the patented “Poetography” combination which incorporated some of her best landscape and still photography inscribed with poignant freestyle poetry to suit the theme.
She was also an active member in the small retail-based business community in Old Town Spring, Texas.
She owned a small shop named “Our House Too - Images by Susan” where she sold her handmade doll clothes for a variety of collections, as well as custom wood pieces and trinkets. This was also the main display house for her photography and “Poetography” for the last 10+ years.
Susan loved music, especially blues and Motown; she loved to dance as well. She was a friend to many and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Though she will be missed dearly, her family can rejoice in the fact that she is now at home with her Father, whom she loved so much.

John Fenwick Bennett, 86, of Milford, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, in his home. He was born in Milford, the son of the late F. Layton and Sally Stevenson Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Wilkins Bennett.
Mr. Bennett is survived by two sons, John A. Bennett of Milford and Alan F. Bennett of Milton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Francis “Guy” O’Hazza, real estate developer
Francis “Guy” E. O’Hazza, 83, of Rehoboth Beach and formerly of Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Va., passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born April 22, 1925 in Beaver Meadows, Pa., son of the late Wassil and Susan Metro O’Hazza.
Mr. O’Hazza owned and operated a real estate company in Alexandria, Va., for many years, and he was a real estate developer in the Washington metropolitan area as well. He was a founding member of the National Capital Kennel Club of Washington, D.C., a member of Sports Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. O’Hazza and his wife of 58 years relocated to Rehoboth Beach in 1978 where he joined St. Edmond’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Rehoboth Beach American Legion Post 5. Francis and Susie spent 17 winters in the Cayman Islands.
Mr. O’Hazza is survived by his wife, Susie Bell Waple O’Hazza; a daughter, Susan Marie Brown and her husband Brian of Rehoboth Beach; two sons, Guy Richard O’Hazza of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., and John Waple O’Hazza and his wife Margaret “Terry” of Rehoboth Beach; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn J. O’Hazza of Grand Cayman, Josh P. O’Hazza of Palos Verdes Estates, Robert G. Taylor, Cayman L. Taylor and Kiana Taylor, all of Millsboro; and one sister, Margaret Skotnicki of Camp Hill, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Raymond Forrester at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, King Charles Avenue & Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach. Clifford A Moore, 90, of Milford, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Milford Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his sister and son. He was born March 8, 1918, the son of the late Joseph Russell Moore and Mary Phillips Moore.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Senior Citizens of Milton, Georgetown and Milford. He retired from Walls Builders as a carpenter and loved sharing his knowledge of the trade with everyone.
Playing canasta with his sister, family and friends was his love, as well as going to the casino to visit a very close friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence E.; and daughter Priscilla Moore.
He is survived by two daughters, Rosalee Stein and Paulette Vavala of Florida; a son, Ronald A. Moore and Kathy of Ellendale; a sister, Margaret Moore; six grandchildren, Michelle, Danielle, Melissa, Harold, Kandace and Ronnie II; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Macy; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m.

Marion L. Woodrum. 66, of Newark and formerly of Milton, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 7, 1942, and raised in Milton, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mabel Macumber Wright.
She graduated from Milton High School in 1959. Marion attended Beebe Nursing School and graduated in 1963.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Lloyd Woodrum in 2004; her sisters, Dorothy Andrie and Janet Adele Farrel; and stepson Patrick J. Woodrum.
She is survived by her brothers, William Wright and his wife Arlene, Richard Wright and his wife Barb; her sister, Doris Scott; her son, Steven A. Sturgis, originally of Newark and now of Guerneville, Calif.; her daughter, Kimberly M. Sturgis Wyatt and her husband Eric C. of Newark; her stepsons. Edward J. Woodrum and his wife Kimberly K. Woodrum of Newark, and J. Michael Woodrum and his wife Linda of Mystic, Conn.; 12 nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Matthew J. Sitkowski, maintenance foreman
Matthew Joseph Sitkowski, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born Feb. 23, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Ignatius and Helen Cirnik Sitkowski.
Mr. Sitkowski relocated to the beach area in 1990 from Media, Pa. He had worked for 43 years as a lead aircraft mechanic and maintenance foreman for Trans World Airlines at Philadelphia International Airport. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. He was also a member of the Ocean View VFW Post 7234 and an World War II Air Force veteran who served in the European Theatre. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. He was a loving father and was devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
He is survived by seven children, Matthew J. Sitkowski Jr. and his wife Mary Anne of Coral Gables, Fla., Nancy Wilson of West Chester, Pa., Janice Sitkowski of West Chester, Pa., Terry Unger and her husband Jim of Sparta, N.J., Jean Nelson and husband Tim of Exton, Pa., Joan Sabrick and her husband Michael of Malvern, Pa. and Michael Sitkowski and his wife Joyce of Garnet Valley, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Harry J. McLaughlin, legion commander
Harry Joseph McLaughlin, 82, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro, with his family by his side. He was born July 13, 1926 in Wilmington, son of the late James and Ellen (Crossan) McLaughlin.
Mr. McLaughlin made his living working as a plumber. He was a member of Plumbers Union Local 74 where he served as a Business Agent and was a former President for one term. Mr. McLaughlin served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific and in the liberation of the Philippines. He was a member of American Legion Post 5 and VFW Post 7447 where he was a past Commander. He also served as a past VFW state commander.
The family wishes to thank their close friend, Avon McCauley, and niece, Judy Norton, for the loving care they so willingly provided to Mr. McLaughlin.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his 11 siblings; he was the last of 12 children.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Stella (Detora) McLaughlin; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Iva J. Fagan, 52, of Rehoboth Beach, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at her residence.
She was born on May 22, 1956, in Lewes, daughter of the late Parker P. Failor and Joan (Ingram) Failor of Lewes.
She was a valued employee at the gift shop at Bank of America, Wilmington for the past five years. She was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed golf, and especially enjoyed being outdoors.
As a beloved wife, loving daughter and devoted sister and aunt, she is survived by her husband Luke G. Fagan; mother Joan (Ingram) Failor of Lewes; sister Christine McCarty of Lewes; sister-in-law Nickie Lewis of Middletown, DE; niece Ragen McCarty of Lewes; and many additional nieces and nephews.

May B. Starr, 88, of Milton, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
May was born in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frederick and Millie Trayes Couch.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Goshen U.M. Church, the Red Hat Society and the Y.M.C.A. Water Aerobics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Starr in 1998 and a grandson, Dr. Christopher Martin in 1998.
She is survived by her children, Frederick M. Starr and his wife Barbara of Rehoboth, John W. Starr and his wife Beverly of Milton and Debra Morgan and her husband Richard of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Faye Lowe of Bangor, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Douglas Cuthill, World War II veteran
Douglas Cuthill, 84, of Millsboro and formerly of Selbyville, and Scotland, passed on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at the Atlantic Shores Nursing Center in Millsboro.
Mr. Cuthill was born on Jan. 3, 1924 in Arbroath, Scotland to the late James Cuthill and Annie Scott Cuthill.
Mr. Cuthill was a printer for many years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Royal Air Force as a pilot at the rank of Warrant Officer.
He was a Freemason and a member of the Communications Workers of America. Mr. Cuthill enjoyed flying and playing golf.
Mr. Cuthill is survived by a son, Scott D. Cuthill and his wife Denise of Millsboro; a daughter, Dianne Janice Bilbo of Berlin, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Services and interment will be held in Scotland at a later date.

Dorothy S. Brown, hospice volunteer
Dorothy “Dottie” Simpson Brown, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008.
She was born in Washington, D.C., in 1917, the daughter of the late James Carroll and Lillian K. Simpson. Dottie was raised in Washington and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
She married W. Dale Brown of Stewartstown, Pa. Dot and her husband lived in Bowie, Md., and moved to Kent Island, Md., in 1978. In 2004, she and Dale moved to Cadbury At Lewes.
Dottie was active in hospice and a charter volunteer of Estate Treasures and a member of KIYC, Chester, Md., an avid bridge player, ardent chicken-necker, a creative back yard gardener and the ultimate hostess.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Dale Brown Jr.; two daughters, Carolyn B. Wilson of Crofton, Md., and Joy E. Bohan and her husband Connor of Dewey Beach; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two brothers, William “Buck” A. Simpson and his wife Margaret of Springfield, Va., and James C. Simpson and his wife Barbara of LaPlata, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, by the Rev. James E. Downs, MSA, at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, King Charles Avenue and Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach.
Friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

Robert Wayne Manlove, Motiva retiree
Robert Wayne Manlove, 69, of Middletown passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at his home with his wife and three children at his side.
Wayne was born July 1, 1939, in Smyrna, the eldest son of the late Mark E. and Pauline V. Manlove. Soon after his birth, the family made the Mount Pleasant area of Middletown their home. Upon graduation from Middletown High School in 1957, Wayne took an entry-level position with the Flying-A Oil Refinery in Delaware City. After 40 years of loyal and dedicated service, Wayne retired as the salvage and reclamation coordinator for Motiva Enterprises, at the same Delaware City refinery. One of his proudest work accomplishments was his perfect attendance record. Among his proudest personal achievements was providing for each of his children’s college education.
Wayne was a lifetime member of the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company and Grand Lodge, A.F. and A.M. of Delaware. An avid reader, Wayne was a 50-year member of the Appoquinimink Public Library. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, which afforded him more time for his passions of gardening, reading nonfiction books and watching televised sports. He also found pleasure in collecting the commemorative state quarters and baking cookies for his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his two sisters, Jeanette Manlove and Ellen Cole. Wayne is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Lynn Manlove; a daughter, Pam Hartnett and her husband Rich of Lewes; and two sons, Troy Manlove and his wife Ruth of Virginia Beach, Va., and Curt Manlove and his wife Samantha of Middletown. He is also survived by his brother, Mark E. Manlove Jr. of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne cherished his five grandchildren, Eliot Thomas-Hartnett, Ethan Thomas-Hartnett, Evan Hartnett, Sydney Manlove and Addison Manlove.
Wayne and his family express their sincerest gratitude to Jo Melson of Wilmington Hospital and Delaware Hospice for their compassion and generous support.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 28, at Daniels & Hutchinson Funeral Home, Middletown, with interment at Forest Cemetery in Middletown.

Jean Marie Lowe, professor of nursing
Jean Marie Carpenter Lowe, 46, of Trappe, Md., and formerly of Milton, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008.
Jean was born June 5, 1962, in Milford. Raised on a family farm outside of Milton, Jeannie, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1980.
She realized her childhood dream of becoming a nurse when she received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Salisbury State College in 1985.
Jeannie was employed at Beebe School of Nursing, a position she held from 1986 to 1993. During her tenure at Beebe, she married in 1987 and moved to Easton, Md. Following the birth of her daughter in 1993, Jeannie took a sabbatical from nursing education to devote herself as a wife and mother and to her calling as associate pastor of Talbot Evangelistic Church in Trappe. She completed a bachelor’s degree in theology from Christian Life College of Theology and earned a master’s degree in nursing from Wesley College. Jeannie was employed at Chesapeake College as an assistant professor of nursing and will be remembered for her compassionate servant’s heart and her love for family.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 21 years, the Rev. Derwin B. Lowe; and her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth of Trappe; her parents, James and Lina Carpenter of Milton; her sister, Gail Betts and her husband Patrick of Georgetown; her brother, James Carpenter Jr. and his wife Tammy of Milton; her sister, Kay Dukes and her husband Jeff of Milton; her nephews Allen Betts, Andrew Betts, Aaron Betts, James Carpenter III, Justin Carpenter, Jeremy Carpenter and Philip Dukes; and nieces Jessica Carpenter and Katie Dukes.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Talbot Evangelistic Church, 6099 Ocean Gateway, Trappe, where family and friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. Interment will be private.

Frederick Lowndes, retired consultant
Frederick Lowndes passed away at his home in Millsboro, after a brave struggle with lung cancer.
Mr. Lowndes retired from Baltimore, Md., and Pasco County, Fla., and started his own successful consulting corporation. Fred also worked for planning in the city of Palm Springs, Calif.
Fred loved working in Pasco County and the wonderful people he worked with and friends he would come to know as family. He requested his memorial service to be held in Florida.
He is survived by his life partner of 18 love-filled years, Troy Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Dobies Funeral Home, Congress Boulevard, New Port Richey, Fla.
Mr. Lowndes will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John Fenwick Bennett, retired farmer
John Fenwick Bennett, 86, of Milford passed away at his home Monday, Aug. 18, 2008.
Fenwick was a retired farmer and horseman. He was a past member of the Delaware Farm Bureau and of the U.S. Trotting Association.
Fenwick was preceded in death by his wife, Margurite; his parents, F. Layton and Sallie Bennett; his brother, Norman Bennett; sister, Carrie Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Doris.
He is survived by his sisters, Sara Mae Webb of Milford and Charlotte Ann Wyatt of Harrington; two sons, John A. Bennett of Milford, and Alan F. Bennett of Milton and his wife Cindy; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Johnny William George, Korean War veteran
Johnny William George began his earthly life April 24, 1931, in Painter, Va., born to Martha Floyd and Willie George. His eternal life began Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
In the early years Johnny had diesel fuel running through his veins for years on end. His nickname was “Foxxy Brown,” known to all. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh with his crazy antics. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his family.
Johnny was a devoted and loyal member of St. John 2nd Baptist Church for 30-plus years, and an active member of the usher board. He was also a member of the We Care Truck and Bus Drivers Organization. Mr. George was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Johnny W. George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Annie George; one sister, Helen (Linwood) Wise of Millsboro; a brother, Harry Benny George of Bronx, N.Y.; his children, Johnny (Tina) Buck Hovington, Daniel (Mary) George, Cherlene (Lans) Owen, Shelia Fosque, Janet (Walter) Hopkins, and Chezelle George; his stepchildren, Patsy Drayton, Gerald Davis, Anthony (Althea) Davis; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon, Friday, Aug. 29, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy, near Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Pastor Annie Jane Custis will officiate the service.
Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Marian J. Tarbutton, AARP volunteer
Marian J. Tarbutton, 73, of the Ogden section of Upper Chichester, Pa., passed away at home on Aug. 25, 2008.
She was born in 1934 in Rock Run, Pa., a small town just outside Coatesville. Raised in Claymont, she lived in Aston, Pa., for 12 years prior to moving to Ogden in 1968.
She graduated Claymont High School in 1952 and was employed by Worthland (Phoenix) Steel Company as a secretary upon graduation. Marian was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a bookkeeper at Award Gallery for 10 years until 2004 and for the last 20 years she volunteered as a tax preparer for AARP. She gained a reputation as “one of the best” among her peers and many clients. Marian’s many hobbies over the years included baking, cake decorating, cross stitch, bingo, cards and the casinos. She was well known for her exceptional cooking skills. Her chocolate chip cookies were a family favorite during the holidays. Marian also enjoyed spending summers at their beach house on the Sassafrass River in Gregg Neck, Md., with her husband, family and friends. Her 13 grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Olive May; sister, Marjorie Walker; and brother, Reginald May.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joseph R. Tarbutton; six children, Cindy Gatta of Wilmington, Dan Gatta of Carey, Ill. (wife Maria), Larry Gatta of Glenmoore, Pa. (wife Sue), Jeff Gatta of Brookhaven, Pa. (wife Donna), Joe Gatta of Willistown, Pa., and Robert Tarbutton and his wife Rachel of Brookhaven, Pa.; a brother, Douglas May of Milton; two sisters, Dolores Brady of Wilmington and Nancy Timothy of Millsboro; 10 grandchildren, Traci Raftovich (Dan), Michelle Porter, Jacqui Gatta, Jessie Gatta, Jeffrey Gatta, Nicole Gatta, Ryan Gatta, Erikka Gatta, Allison Gatta and Danielle Gatta; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Raftovich, Callie Raftovich and Dylan Gatta.

Susan Anna Davidson, “Poetography” creator
Susan Anna Davidson was born May 8, 1939, in Camden, N.J., to Laura May Moore Davidson and Walter Bray Davidson. She died Friday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2008, at the age of 69 at her residence in Tomball, Texas.
Susan accomplished many great things while she was alive on this earth.
She was an award-winning photographer, well-versed poet, and creator of the patented “Poetography” combination, which incorporated some of her best landscape and still photography inscribed with poignant freestyle poetry to suit the theme. She was also an active member in the small retail-based business community in Old Town Spring, Texas. She owned a small shop named “Our House Too - Images by Susan” where she sold her handmade doll clothes for a variety of collections, as well as custom wood pieces and trinkets. This was also the main display house for her photography and “Poetography” for the last 10+ years. Susan loved music, especially blues and Motown; she loved to dance as well. She was a friend to many and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Though she will be missed dearly, her family can rejoice in the fact that she is now at home with her Father, whom she loved so much.
Susan was predeceased by her sister, Martha Hitchens Gillis.
She is survived by her only child, daughter Lorraine Renee Fields; and granddaughters, Lee Ann and Jessica Fields. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Walter Davidson of Delaware; and her sister Fredonia “Faye” Davidson of Delaware.
