Oscar Lee Bundick Jr., World War II veteran
Oscar Lee Bundick Jr., 81, of Dagsboro, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Atlantic Shores, Millsboro. Mr. Bundick was born July 20, 1927, in Accomack, Va., to the late Oscar Sr. and Henrietta Bundick. He was the last surviving of 11 children.
Mr. Bundick worked many years doing maintenance work for Clifton Brasure and most recently worked as a foreman at King Cole in Milton, until it closed. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Megee Bundick in 2003; he is survived by eight children, Oscar Lee Bundick III and wife Judy of Lewes, Wanda L. Wright of Delmar, David Bundick and wife Donna of Millsboro, Peggy Phillips and husband Milton of Millsboro, Jeff Bundick and wife Nancy of Seaford, Michael Bundick and Tina of Gumboro, Sharon Bundick of Millsboro, and Theresa Taylor and husband Shawn of Millsboro; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 23, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Friends may call one hour before the service.
Interment with honors will be at Carey’s Cemetery, near Millsboro.

Dorothy B. Williams, Bell Telephone retiree
Dorothy Boyer Williams, 90, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at her residence. She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Martin and Blanche Vail Boyer.
Mrs. Williams lived in Delaware all of her life and was a Middletown High School graduate. She retired from Bell Telephone after 25 years of service. She was an avid reader who loved gardening and was a member of the Middletown Garden Club. Her family and friends will always remember her passion for dark chocolate.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter, Carol B. Reed of Lewes; son, Steven Williams and his wife Carole of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren: Jerry Reed and his wife Ruth of San Antonio, Texas, Robin May of Millsboro, and Jonathan Reed and his wife Jane of Chestertown, Md.; six great-grandchildren: Megan, Catherine, Sarah, Zachary, Jordan and Julia; and eight nieces and nephews: Ken Boyer, Chip Slaughter, Terri Slaughter Carter, Mark Slaughter, Ken Boyer, Allan Boyer, Keith Boyer and Larry Williams. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was predeceased by her husband, William Arthur Williams (1987) and her four siblings and their spouses: Billi Boyer and his wife Daisy, Bob Boyer and his wife Irene, Edna Slaughter and her husband Lee, and Donald Boyer and his wife Wanda.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Dorothy’s Life from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 26, at the family home in The Plantations, Lewes. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Enterprises Inc., Lewes.

Hannah Morgan Davies, Eagle’s Nest student
Hannah Morgan Davies of Frederica went to be with Jesus on Monday, April 13, 2009.
She was a very loving and active 8-year-old. Hannah was born Aug. 27, 2000, in Dover. She was a second-grade student at Eagle’s Nest Christian Academy. She enjoyed doing gymnastics and playing soccer, basketball, field hockey and lacrosse. She attended the Milford Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the puppet ministry.
She is survived by her parents, Gregory and Lisa Morgan Davies; a twin brother, Trevor Davies; maternal grandparents, Woody and Joan Morgan of Milford; two maternal great-grandmothers, Anita Morgan of Dover and Marguerite Reed of Rehoboth; paternal grandparents, William and Mary Ann Davies of Dover; and paternal great-grandmother, Kathleen Montague of Harrington; two uncles, Bruce Morgan of Lincoln, and Gary Morgan and wife Susan of Milford; an aunt, Laura Cushman and husband Steve of Owings Mills, Md.; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 20, at Milford Church of the Nazarene, with interment in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Arrangements by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.

John R. Kane, loved Irish music
John R. “Jack” Kane died suddenly at Christiana Hospital on Thursday, April 16, 2009.
Jack was born June 28, 1941, in Wilmington, son of the late James F. Sr. and Agnes “Doll” Lenhoff Kane. He was one of 11 siblings. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He joined the Wilmington Fire Department in 1962, retiring as a lieutenant “C Platoon” in 1988. He then worked at United Electric Supply, recently retiring in March. Jack enjoyed many years of fishing, crabbing and fun at his summer place in Rehoboth Bay with his family and friends. He was a devout Notre Dame fan even following his team to a victory in Ireland. His love of Irish music was always piped through his home and car. He was a member of the New Castle County Irish Club and president-elect of the “Green Hat Society.” He was also a member of Local 1590. He also was an avid Flyers and Phillies fan. Jack loved his family and enjoyed all of their gatherings and parties. He especially loved his special grandchildren, Michael, Juliana and Adrienne Testa; and arriving any day now, Hailey Elizabeth Kane.
Jack was also preceded in death by his brothers, Little Jimmy, Bill, Bob and Jim; and his sisters, Dolores “Sissy” Bader, and Agnes “Aggie” Workman. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pat; his son, John and his fiancée Susan Donohue; and his daughter, Sandra Testa and her husband Michael; his brothers, Joe, Paul and Tom; his sister, Kathleen Krupa; and his “favorite sisters-in-law,” Maryann, Paula, Mary, Bonnie, Joanne and Linda; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Bader and Bill Krupa. He is also survived by his dear mother-in-law, Hattie Payne; his aunt Alice Bridgewater; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack’s devotion to the Blessed Mother was an inspiration to us all and his strong faith will live in us forever. Jack was “one of a kind,” a truly remarkable man who was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He left a smile on everyone’s face.
A celebration of Jack’s life was held Monday, April 20, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Wilmington, with interment in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. Arrangements by Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, Elsmere.

Gerald R. Thierwechter, Gulf War veteran
Msgt. Gerald R. “Jerry” Thierwechter, USAF Retired, 66, of Clayton, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, April 16, 2009. Jerry was born June 17, 1942, in Lebanon, Pa., the son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Boyer Thierwechter. He worked in the MIS area of Playtex Products Inc. in Dover, for 40 years before retirement.
His favorite hobby was working as a handyman. Jerry graduated from Northern Lebanon High School at Fredericksburg, Pa. Jerry enjoyed his scouting days and reached the rank of Star Scout. Jerry was a life member with the Hartly Fire Company and served as an EMT ambulance captain and firefighter. Jerry served four years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force and later became an Air Force Reservist where he served in the Persian Gulf War before retiring with over 20 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph E. and John R. Thierwechter. Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah Davidson Thierwechter; a daughter, Jennifer T. Rambo and her husband Christopher of Lewes; a stepson, Larry A. Lavender Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Metuchen, N.J.; and two sisters, Doris Suloff and her husband William of Lititz, Pa., and Marilyn Umberger and her husband Robert of Jonestown, Pa.; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Lindsay Rambo. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call two hours prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
