Joseph Russell Sr., VFW life member
Joseph "Whitey" F. Russell Sr., 82, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Joseph A. and Helen Margaret Patterson Russell.
Mr. Russell served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 7447, Rehoboth Beach and a member of American Legion Post 17, Lewes. He was very involved in his community, Aspen Meadows, where he served as a former president of the homeowners association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his wife Ida M Shields Russell and his son Daniel J. Russell. He is survived by his three sons, Joseph R. Russell Jr. of Philadelphia, Edward J. Russell and his wife Susan M. of Langhorne, Pa., and Thomas M. Russell of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Russell of Milford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, north of Five Points, Lewes; friends may call at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. The family will also have a Memorial Mass celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at St. Jerome Church, 8100 Colfax St., Philadelphia.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Home of the Brave Foundation, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford, DE 19963.
Margaret M. Calabrese, retired supervisor
Margaret Mary Beck Calabrese, 70, of Ocean View, passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2009, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 26, 1939, in Butler, Pa., daughter of the late Paul and Vivian Rose Beck.
Prior to moving to Delaware in 1994, the family resided in Farmingdale, N.Y., where Mrs. Calabrese was employed as a payroll supervisor at Brunswick Hospital in Amityville, N.Y.
She was a graduate of Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa., and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bethany Beach. She was a former member of the American Association of University Women and the Lord Baltimore Lioness Club.
She was a charter member of the American Association of Retired Persons chapter 5226, Ocean View, and a member of the Sussex County Genealogical Society. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Beck. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Renaldo A. Calabrese; two sons, Anthony Calabrese and wife Patricia of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Albert Calabrese and wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Christine Petrelli and husband Frank of Great River, N.Y., and Caroline Paul and husband Raymond of Bethpage, N.Y; six grandchildren, Julianna, Zoe, Domenic, Mia, Nicholas and Raymond; two brothers, James Beck of Tucson, Ariz. and Frank Beck of Sarasota, Fla.; and three sisters, Agnes Grabowski of Butler, Eileen Brandt of Valencia, Pa., and Ruth Roberts of Butler.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel. Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
Kelly Fritchman, devoted wife, mother
Kelly Jean Fritchman, 32, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Kelly, who was born July 2, 1976, died from complications of cystic fibrosis.
Kelly is survived by her husband of eight years, Todd Fritchman, her 6-year-old daughter Melanie Jean and her 4-year-old son Charles James.
She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Laurie and Tom Leary of Dover; her father Ron Leven of DuMont, N.J.; and her three sisters, Heather Tunstill of Middletown, Becky Leary of Dover and Shannon Leary of Dover.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Bethel United Methodist Church on Fourth Street in Lewes, where the Rev. Fred Duncan will preside. Following the services will be a celebration of her life at The Glade clubhouse in The Glade development on Holland Glade Road.

Suzie Parker, jewelry designer
Suzie Parker, 56, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Long Island, N.Y.
She was a jewelry designer of vintage crystal, a poet and a writer. Suzie touched many lives with her creative, loving spirit and made friends easily wherever she went.
Born in Kansas, she lived most of her life in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., and spent the last few summers in Rehoboth Beach visiting her sister, Olly Wolf.
She is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Audrey Parker and is the beloved sister of Olly Wolf and brother in-law Fr. Max J. Wolf; sister of Gail Von Elm and brother in-law Henry; brother of Bruce Parker; and brother of Brian Parker. She was the longtime companion to Ali Emelianoff.
She will be sorely missed by her family and all her many friends.
A memorial service will be held for her at 11 a.m., Friday, June 12, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
