Hugh Revell, retired contractor
Hugh Revell, 69, of Millsboro died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in the comfort of his home. Hugh was born March 31, 1940, in Millsboro, to the late Wilford and Addie Littleton Revell. He was raised in Millsboro. Mr. Revell was a self-employed contractor and painter for most of his life. He leaves behind a loving wife of 47 years, Phyllis Taylor Revell; his children, Kathy Joseph of Gumboro, Alan Revell of Millsboro, Abby Baker of Millsboro, W.J. Revell of Georgetown, and Lisa Revell of Millsboro; a brother, Jewel Revell of Millsboro; two sisters, Nina Warren of Millsboro and Vivian Leifert of Seaford; and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Brother William Bear will officiate the service. Burial will be in Carey’s Cemetery, Millsboro.

Janet Marie Ireland, Long Neck resident
Janet Marie Ireland, 69, of Long Neck, formerly of Frankford, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
She is survived by her mother, Ida Shockley; son, Bill Ireland of Frankford; daughter, Denise Fulmer of Georgetown; grandchildren, Nikki, Billy, Jessica, Alexis, Denise, Daniel and Michael; one great-grandchild, Emily; her brother, Donald Shockley; and sisters, Ruth Buchanon and Kathleen Roberts.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at the Selbyville Elks Lodge, Route 113, Bishopville, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Janet’s memory to Beebe Medical Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.

Theresa C. Hopkins, retail manager
Theresa Cecelia Hopkins, 65, of Felton, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born Nov. 29, 1943, in McDaniel, Md., she was the daughter of the late Leo Otto and Margaret Adelia Callahan Schultz. She graduated June 7, 1963, from St. Michaels High School. On June 21, 1963, she married Allen B. Hopkins. She worked as a retail store manager for 20 years, working at Shore Stop and Family Dollar.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years; her children, Kimberly Hopkins and her husband Howard Willis of Felton, Stacey Lawson and her husband David Lawson of Harrington, and Brian Hopkins and his wife Joann Hopkins of Frederica; six grandchildren, Aaron Hopkins and Alexis Willis, both of Felton, and Travis, Jessica, Bethany and Madison Lawson, all of Harrington; one great-grandson, Gavin Hopkins; and step-grandchildren, Kevin Presto and Mary Johnson. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, John W. Schultz of Lewes, Louise A. Marshall of Easton, Md., Marie Cheezum of Queenstown, Md., James F. Schultz of Easton, Casey Schultz of St. Michaels, Md., Annette Krickbaum of Easton, Harry Schultz of Easton, May Jurceka of Easton and Adelia Faulkner of Houston. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kisa Renee Hopkins.
Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 22, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 21. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Easton.

Hazel M. Clendaniel, Kent County retiree
Hazel M. Clendaniel, 89, passed away in the Westminster Nursing Home Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Hazel was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Dover, the daughter of the late Kenneth T. Meredith and Margaret Tarburton Meredith. She was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1937. She worked for the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, retiring from the Kent County Levy Court in 1980 after 28 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, putting together puzzles and reading. She was a 75-year member of Capital Grange No. 18, a 4-H Club member, Kent County Order of Links member and attended Peoples Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Clendaniel; a sister, Louise M. Reynolds; and a granddaughter, Sandra Nickerson.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Watts of Lewes, and Janet Lloyd and her husband Ray of Felton; one son, Kenneth Clendaniel and his wife Donna of Dover; grandchildren, Tommy Nickerson, Kendra Dechenes and husband Neil, Matthew Clendaniel and wife Amber, Tara Stone, Tim Brady and wife Bridgete, Alan Lloyd and wife Jaime, Rusty Lloyd and Cody Lloyd; great-grandchildren, T.W. Nickerson, Seth and Sean Dechenes, Jackson Clendaniel, Brielle Schiff, Zack and Cameron Stone, Codie Tribbitt and Jordan Brady, Shannon Jones, Shawn Riley, Ada and Nora Lloyd; one great-great-grandson, Wyatt Nickerson; a special niece, Nancy Roy of Dover; and many more nieces and nephews.
Remembrance services will be noon, Monday, June 22, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where family and friends may call one hour before. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity. The family would like to thank all the staff at Westminster Nursing Home for their dedicated care during her stay.

Fred R. Lucas, truck driver
Fred R. Lucas, 57, of Dover, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at home surrounded by family.
Mr. Lucas was born April 22, 1952, in Hinton, W.Va., to the late Herman and Lena DePriest Lucas.
Mr. Lucas was a truck driver for many years. He loved to travel, fish, deer hunt and enjoyed just being surrounded by nature. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam era.
Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall and Clyde, in addition to his parents. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Libby J. Edwards Lucas; four brothers, James, Randl, Alvin and Harry; five sisters, Anna, Rosie, Virgie, Stephanie and Nancy; and a very close cousin, Barb.
Services and interment will be private.

Anthony Jackewicz Jr., devoted family man
Anthony “Tony” Jackewicz, of Lewes, departed this life Friday, June 12, 2009, after an ongoing struggle with his health. Born April 14, 1950, in Southampton, N.Y., he moved to Dover as a young boy with his parents, the late Anthony and Bertha Jackewicz.
A graduate of Holy Cross High School, class of 1968, Mr. Jackewicz served in the U.S. Air Force before returning home to the family business, Round Barn Farms, where he worked until the sale of the farm in the mid-1980s. Before declining health forced his retirement, he owned and operated Total Property Care, a home renovation contracting business.
A beach lover who enjoyed surfing and fishing, Tony found great joy in cooking for and entertaining his family and friends. His positive spirit and great courage were an inspiration to all. Quick with a joke and ever smiling, his passing leaves the world a sadder and darker place for his family and for the many friends he made along life’s journey. Mr. Jackewicz was a member of the Episcopal Parish of All Saints’ Church & St. George’s Chapel where he and his family received endless love and support during his illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Melissa Lemaire Jackewicz; son Jason Bennett Jackewicz of Lewes; daughter Elisabeth “Buffy” Jackewicz and her fiancé Jesse Neace, both of Alexandria, Va.; brothers John Jackewicz of Dover, and Paul Jackewicz and his wife Patricia of Rehoboth Beach. He is also survived by his granddogs Audie and Maxie, along with a host of other cherished relatives and countless friends.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach with the Rev. Max J. Wolf officiating.

John A. Engler, avid hunter, fisherman
John A. Engler, DDS, 82, of Dagsboro, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born July 16, 1926, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., son of the late George and Arlene Groff Engler.
Dr. Engler graduated from Bucknell University and Temple University School of Denistry. Following completion of his education, he taught for two years at Temple University Radiology Department. He began his dental practice in Hamilton Square, N.J., where he was a member of the Masonic Gothic Fraternal Lodge No. 270 and the Black Rock Gun Club, Plainsboro, N.J. After relocating to Delaware in 2002, he joined the Indian River Senior Citizen Golf Group. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ellen Henry Engler; two daughters, Lynn Engler Bezpalko, D.O., and her husband Orest Bezpalko, D.O., of Mt. Laurel, N.J. and Diane Engler and her husband Christian Gay of Ferndale, Pa.; a son, John A. Engler Jr. and his wife Bridgitte of Hamilton Square; four grandchildren, Orysia Bezpalko of Mt. Laurel and Nicole Engler, Christie Engler and Erika Engler all of Hamilton Square; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Arline Engler Worth and Ethel Mae Engler; and a brother, William O. Engler.

Edward E. Clark Sr., Hecht retiree
Edward Eugene Clark Sr., 90, of Lewes, passed away at his home Thursday, June 18, 2009.
He was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Louisville, Ky., son of the late Isodore and Sarah (Langley) Clark. Mr. Clark enjoyed a long career of 30 years with the Hecht Company in Washington, D.C. from which he retired in the late 1970s as a junior executive. Mr. Clark had served with the U.S. Navy and in the Naval Reserve from 1935 to 1946.
He had also served as a pilot with the Flying Tigers. He was a member of American Legion Post 28, Oak Orchard, and VFW Post 7447, Rehoboth Beach. He proudly served as a member of the District 4 Honor Guard.
Mr. Clark enjoyed taking veterans to the VA Hospital for their appointments, working on anything electrical and generally helping people who were in need.
He was a family man who was devoted to his loving wife of 63 years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife Mary (Greenwell) Clark; a son Gene Clark and his wife Martha of Gambrills, Md.; a daughter, Joan Davis and her husband Chip of Lewes; four grandchildren, Gordon Davis and wife Carri of Lewes, Suzy Close and husband Milton of Gambrills, Cindy Arnold and husband Frank of Manchester, Md., and Angie Davis Whitten and husband Bryan of Frederick, Md.; five great-grandchildren, Autumn Davis of Lewes, Brandon and Ashley Close of Gambrills, Jake Arnold of Manchester, and Jamie Whitten of Frederick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, June 22, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Entombment with military honors will follow the services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
