Patricia ‘Pat’ Bradley, devoted mother
Patricia “Pat” Bradley, 74, of Rehoboth Beach, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 17, 2009, surrounded by her loved ones at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Pat was the loving wife of her husband Edward G. Bradley Jr. for 48 years. She was a devoted mother to her five children, Edward, Patricia, David, Michaele and Nanette; and a wonderful “MumMum” to her nine grandchildren, James, Sean, Kyle, Ryan, Colin, Wayne, Aidan, Sarah and Keegan.
She was born Patricia Ann O’Hara Dec. 7, 1934, in South Philadelphia, Pa., the youngest of 12 children of Martin O’Hara and Agnes Spellman O’Hara. She attended Little Flower High School. She met her future husband while working at the Philadelphia Art Museum. They were married Sept. 3, 1960. They raised their children in the Olney neighborhood of North Philadelphia and attended St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church. In Sept. 1999, the family moved to The Landing in Rehoboth Beach and began attending St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church.
Pat was a compassionate caregiver whose devotion to ill and dying family members eventually led to her work with Delaware Hospice and Griswold Special Care. Pat also worked for the Delaware State Parks in Sussex County. Her love and tenderness were endlessly given to her family and to everyone she met. She embodied the words of Philippians 4:5, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.”
Pat is survived by her husband Edward of Rehoboth Beach; daughter Patricia Bradley and grandson Ryan Hicks of Georgetown; son David Bradley; daughter-in-law Martie Bradley and grandchildren Colin, Aidan and Keegan Bradley of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter Michaele Bradley of Milton; daughter Nanette McCloskey and grandchildren Sean and Kyle McCloskey and Wayne and Sarah Davis of Blue Bell, Pa.; grandson James McCloskey of Rehoboth Beach; sister Virginia McEwen of Abington, Pa.; sister Catherine Lemon of Bristol, Pa.; sister-in-law and dear friend Mary Bradley of Wilmington; sister-in-law Anna Bradley Rynkiewicz and husband Robert of Cape May, N.J.; brother-in-law Hugh Bradley and wife Patricia of Naperville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews in the Philadelphia and tri-state area.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and six sisters; and her son Edward G. Bradley III who died Oct. 25, 2005.
Friends and family will be received at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach; interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Down Syndrome Association of Delaware “Buddy Walk,” PO Box 747, Middletown, DE 19709.

Joyce N. Collett, Chestertown resident
Joyce Nash Collett, 63, of Chestertown, Md., died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown.
She is survived by a son, Charles Collett Jr. of Columbia, Md.; a daughter, Amanda Collett of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, the Rev. Eleanor Laws of Milton, and Claudia Keyes of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, Bill Nash of Saudi Arabia. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 24, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call at noon. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Mid-Atlantic Division, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.

Avery T. Taylor, retired mechanic
Avery T. Taylor Jr., 64, of Millsboro, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at home.
He was born in Salisbury, Md., son of the late Avery Thomas Sr. and Hazel Ruth Esham Taylor.
He was a retired mechanic from the Delmarva Power and Light Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a past member of the American Legion. He loved gardening and tending his flowerbeds. He loved to cook. He had a heart of love and was devoted to his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his son, Avery T. Taylor III and his wife Kyniaa of Seaford, and his daughter, Michelle Lee Whitlock and her husband Troy of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a stepson, Rick Bush and his wife Sarah of Cumberland, Md. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Lee Taylor and his wife Anna of Austin, Texas; and a sister, Connie Ruth Johnson of Snow Hill, Md.; and six grandchildren: Zachary, Kaitlin, Trevor, Andrew, Austin and Taylor
Services will be held at noon, Tuesday, July 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, with the Rev. Bruce Davis officiating.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m., at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, with conferring of military honors.

Rollin P. McCabe Jr., automobile salesman
Mr. Rollin P. “Rollie” McCabe Jr., 82, of Newark, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, July 17, 2009.
Mr. McCabe was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Wilmington, son of the late Rollin P. McCabe Sr. and Mary A. George. A professional automobile salesman, he operated the former McCabe Auto Sales in Newport for many years. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan throughout his life.
His beloved wife, Marie A. Magee McCabe, died in 1989. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda M. Baker, in 2007; and by a brother, Robert McCabe. He is survived by his daughter, Diane R. Lawhead and husband Bill of Newark; sisters, Nancy Reed and husband Jim of Milton; and Janice Murphy of Elsmere; sister-in-law, Louise McCabe of Millsboro; stepfather, Harlon Talley of Fenwick Island; grandchildren, Nikole Irelan and husband Dan, Chris Lawhead and fiancée Heather Estep, and George Baker Jr., all of Newark; and great-granddaughter, Arieanna O’Donnell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

E. James Monihan, Beebe vice president
E. James Monihan, 72, of Lewes, son of E. James and Eleanor Monihan, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
A graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, he was employed with Beebe Medical Center as vice president of administration for 43 years.
Jim was a dedicated member of the fire service starting with the Cranston Heights Fire Department in Wilmington, and then joining Lewes Fire Department, where he was a life member of 43 years.
He was past chairman of the National Volunteer Fire Service and past president of the Delaware Volunteer Fire Service, receiving many awards for service. He was currently treasurer of the Board of Public Works in Lewes.
He is survived by his loving wife Jan Monihan; daughter, Mary Monihan; son, Dr. Michael Monihan and his wife Kim; and two grandchildren, Gabriella Samuel and Phillip Monihan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Friday, July 24, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 23, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro.
The family is requesting no flowers; donations in Jim’s memory are suggested to the dedicated members of the Lewes Fire Department, 347 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
