Viola Agnes Wright, Georgetown native
Mrs. Viola Agnes Williams Wright, 96, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Milford Center in Milford. Mrs. Wright was born July 22, 1913 in Georgetown, daughter of the late Clifford and Alberta Roberts Williams.
Mrs. Roberts was born and raised in Georgetown where she made a home for her husband and daughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Mabel E. Drummond of Philadelphia, Pa.; one granddaughter, Gloria Williams; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five nieces; two nephews, many cousins; and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown. Interment will be private.

Peter J. Gallagher, retired attorney
Peter J. Gallagher, 72, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at his residence Monday, Aug. 10, 2009; he courageously battled lymphoma for 14 months. He was born July 29, 1937, in Wilmington, son of the late Peter and Mary Tierney Gallagher.
Mr. Gallagher and his wife moved to Lewes six years ago from Bethesda, Md. Pete was an attorney with the U.S. government, working for various agencies. He also worked in private practice. After working 12 years for the Washington, D.C. Metro system, he retired. He was a graduate of Archmere Academy, Mount St. Mary University, Emmitsburg, Md., and Georgetown University Law School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy A. Markey Gallagher; two daughters, Kathleen Jeffery and husband Tim of Ellicott City, Md., Colleen Ward and husband Thad of North Attleboro, Mass.; a son, Peter Gallagher and wife Heather of Columbia, Md.; six grandchildren: Patrick, Erin, Taylor, Connor, Benjamin and Emma; and his sister, Mary Gallagher of Wilmington.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway; Pastor Harry “Buzz” Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the Lewes Yacht Club, 2701 Cedar St. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tunnell Cancer Center, Special Needs Fund, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958 or to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19993.

Veronica L. White, Rehoboth resident
Veronica Lynn White, 19, of Rehoboth Beach, departed this life Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at home.
She was born July 27, 1990. Arrangements were made by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford. Services were held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Lincoln. Burial was in Milford Community Cemetery.

Roseanna T. Gallagher, former welder
Roseanna “Ann” T. Meyers Gallagher, 76, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Francis and Lenore Whitman Meyers.
Mrs. Gallagher was employed for 28 years by Kelsey Hayes in Philadelphia where she worked as a welder. As a member of Union Local 834 in Philadelphia, she served as the editor of the union newsletter. After retiring to Delaware in 1998, she wrapped up her working years as a greeter at the Rehoboth Beach Wal-Mart.
Throughout her life she was devoted to her family.
The family extends a debt of gratitude to Laura of Compassionate Care, Dagsboro, for the wonderful care she provided to Ann in her time of need.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl and her brother William Meyers. Mrs. Gallagher is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John T. Gallagher; two sons, William and his wife Robin of Griffith, Ind., and Michael and his wife Renee of Levittown, Pa.; two daughters, Dawn of Middletown, Pa., and Michele and her husband Timothy of West Deptford, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes. Friends may call at church beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude the Apostle Building Fund, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.

Joseph C. Parker, advertising manager
Joseph Clarence Parker, 79, of Georgetown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Joseph served 33 years with J.C. Penney as an advertising manager. He was a skilled display manager who created excellent arrangements. He loved the outdoors and flowers, water and the ocean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elva West Parker. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Thompson Parker, daughter, Susan Lisa Parker of Georgetown; six brothers, Ralph and Richard of Laurel, Dale of Blades, and Jerry, Donald and James of Georgetown; three sisters, Janet Ware of Georgetown, Patricia Harris of Seaford and Doris Moore of Laurel.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 13, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with burial in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Dorothy M. Skinner, Selbyville native
Dorothy M. Skinner, 95, of Selbyville, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at Country Rest Home, Greenwood.
She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Selbyville, the youngest daughter of the late Elisha B. and Elta Pauline Tindall McCabe.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Burbage and her husband Joseph of Wilmington; and her son, Richard B. Skinner Jr. and his wife Cheryl B. of Magnolia; four grandchildren, Anne Louise Emmi and her husband Jeffrey, Brian Burbage, Richard B. Skinner III and his wife Alyson, and Lee T. Skinner; seven great-grandchildren, Laura, Somer and Nicholas Emmi; and Domenick, Logan, Ava and Hudson Skinner. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Richard Benson Skinner Sr., in 1994 and her two sisters, Pauline and Thelma.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17, at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, where friends may call two hours prior for visitation. The Rev. Dr. Bruce Cooke will officiate. Interment will be in Redmen’s Cemetery, Selbyville.

Roger G. Young, technical clerk
Roger G. Young, 55, of Millsboro, formerly of Smyrna, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, in Renaissance Health Care in Millsboro. Roger survived a debilitating car accident at the age of 17 and bravely lived for many years to the fullest of his abilities.
Mr. Young was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Landstudl, West Germany, the son of the late Harold G. and Ruth E. Young. Roger enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo, playing bocci ball and bowling. He was known to have a good sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He worked as a technical clerk for Dover Air Force Base.
He is survived by three brothers, Harold G. Young Jr. of Hartly, William Marc Young of Smyrna, and Kurt W. Young of Townsend; a sister, Carol Ann Bramble of Chestertown, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church, 20-24 West Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, DE 19977. Capt. John C. Collison, retired truck driver
Capt. John C. Collison, 82, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Collison was born March 16, 1927, in Staytonville, son of the late Elijah and Theresa (Krauss) Collison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Collison was a truck driver for 50 years, working for Reed Trucking, Joe Connelly and several years before retiring in 1988 owned and operated his own trucking business.
He also captained his own charter fishing boat, Three Sisters, for many years out of Slaughter Beach. Besides his love of fishing, he also enjoyed hunting. Mr. Collison was a life member of the Blue Hen VFW Post 6483 in Milford and the American Legion Post 3 in Milford, a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge 534 and a member of the Delaware Antique Car Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Collison was preceded in death by his first wife, Annabell Mae Collison; a daughter, Shirley Ann Collison and four brothers, Elijah Collison, James Collison, Michael Collison and Daniel Collison.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jeannette R. Collison; two sons and daughters-in-law; John H. and Debbie Collison of Felton; and Harvey W. and Lisa Collison of Milford; a stepson, John K. Elliott Sr. of Milford; a daughter, Geraldine Messick of Lewes; two stepdaughters, Lorraine G. Elliott of Milford and Julie Ann Harrington of Wilmington; two brothers, Joseph Wayne Collison of Harrington and Gilbert Collison of Frederica; a sister, Margaret Collison Yates of Clewiston, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a close friend, Michael.
Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial with military honors will be held in the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street.
