Virginia L. Kelley, Wilmington native
Virginia L. Kelley, 74, of Millsboro, formerly of Newark, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Kelley was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Richard K. and Virginia Harris Wilson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, William Kenneth Kelley; and a daughter, Kathy Lynn Magness.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles B. Kelley; a son, Charles B. Kelley Jr. of New Castle; and two grandsons, Charles and Connor Magness of Chadds Ford, Pa.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Virginia’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Loretta A. Miller, Lewes resident
Loretta A. Herbein Miller, 72, wife of Alpheus H. Miller Jr. of Lewes, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at home. She was a former resident of Collegeville, Pa.
Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Lancaster, Pa., and was the daughter of the late James S. and Helen Millard Herbein. She was a graduate of Phoenixville (Pa.) High School.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Miller is survived by her children, Laurie D. Miller, at home, and Mark D., husband of Aimee Miller, Lewes; her grandchildren, Amanda Welden, Ian Welden, Devon Miller and Mason Miller; and her brother, Richard, husband of Paula Herbein, Franconia Township, Pa. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly A. Welden.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Holcombe Funeral Home Inc., 21 Main St., Trappe, Pa., with the Rev. Canon Kenneth L. Ornell, interim pastor, Augustus Lutheran Church, Trappe, officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, E. Whiteland Township, Pa. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

Anna B. Rozmyslovicz, Pennsylvania native
Anna Bucholtz Rozmyslovicz, 93, of Millsboro, formerly of Blytheburn and Wapwallopen, Pa., passed away in her sleep Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, in Lewes.
Born in Glen Lyon, Pa., Anna was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Bucholtz. They preceded her in death, as did her husband, Edward T. Rozmyslovicz, and her four siblings.
Anna is survived by her children, Patricia Hill of Medford Lakes, N.J., Joan Graves of Millsboro, Carole Haverlak of Mt. Top, Pa., Dr. Mary Kay Sanborn of Nogal, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass and burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, at St. Mary’s Church in Dorrance, Pa.

Preston T. Foskey, Army veteran
Preston T. Foskey, 59, of Dearing, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Foskey was born in Millsboro, the son of the late Ralph W. and Viola McGinnes Foskey Sr. Mr. Foskey worked for Baltimore Air Coil in Milford for five years before retiring for health reasons in 1993. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and received numerous medals. He was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Fayetteville, N.C., and a member of the D.A.V. He enjoyed wildlife and his dogs. In addition to both parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph W. Foskey Jr. Mr. Foskey is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jo Ann Bernheart Foskey; three daughters, Sheila Pase of Dearing, Tanya Foskey of Milford, and Sheena Foskey of Tulsa, Okla.; four sisters, Helen Willey of Georgetown, Judy Marvel of Milton, Janet Foskey-Dill of Milton, and Barbra McColley of Ellendale; a brother Bruce Foskey, also of Ellendale; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market St., Georgetown. Burial will be in McColley’s Cemetery in Redden.

A. Jon Magoon, enjoyed sailing
A. Jon Magoon, 66, of Oxford, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove, Pa., after a lengthy battle with Huntington’s disease.
He was the husband of Harriet Holly Day Magoon, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Norwich, Conn., he was the son of Leon and Lillianne Mathieu Magoon. He graduated from Mt. Herman High School in Massachusetts, Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., with a bachelor of science degree and the University of Pittsburgh with a Ph.D. in educational research. Jon was a professor in educational research at the graduate level at the University of Delaware School of Education.
He was a member of the Oxford Friends Meeting, Oxford, and participated in the Baltimore Yearly Meeting Youth Camping, Outward Bound program at Camp Catoctin in Maryland.
He enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake, biking and hiking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Shaun Leon Magoon of Lewes and his wife Wendy and their daughter Megan Brooke Magoon; one daughter, Ruth Lillianne Magoon-Eriksson of Oxford and her husband Torkel Erik Eriksson and their children, Kate Anna Eriksson and Owen Jon Eriksson; two sisters, Noel Hunt of Stevensville, Mont., and Sally Chamberlain of Portland, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Oxford Friends Meeting, 260 South Third St., Oxford, PA 19363. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Oxford Friends Meeting.
Interment will be in the Brick Friends Cemetery, Rising Sun, Md.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Oxford Friends Meeting.

Carolyn ‘Bonnie’ Futcher, longtime teller
Carolyn L. “Bonnie” Futcher, 67, of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, after a short illness. She was born July 4, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Robert Douglas and the late Irma Murphy Eaton.
Ms. Futcher retired as head teller from Citizens Bank in Lewes in May 2008, after 30 years’ employment. She also had worked part-time at Christmas Tree Hill for 14 years. She enjoyed the beach, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Kim Vincent and husband Rick of Harrington, Kelly Hobbs of Georgetown, and Stephanie Coulbourne and husband Bill of Milton; a brother, Bill Sturmfelz of Rehoboth Beach; grandchildren, Emily Vincent and Collin Vincent, both of Harrington, Jesse Hobbs and Meggin Hobbs, both of Georgetown, and Shane Coulbourne, Connor Coulbourne and Ryan Coulbourne, all of Milton; a niece, Mandy Sturmfelz of Arlington, Va.; and a nephew, Mark Sturmfelz of Savannah, Ga.
Memorial services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, with the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Baker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Burial will be private.

Alma Vera Funk, loved the beach
Alma Vera Daugherty Funk, 81, of Glen Burnie, Md., passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes. Mrs. Funk was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie Davis Daugherty.
Mrs. Funk enjoyed a long first career with the telephone company as an operator. Her second career ran for more than 20 years with the Maryland Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Baltimore. She began spending her summers at the Delaware beaches in the 1930s. She loved the beach, swimming and gardening. First and foremost, however, was time spent with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Funk in 1976 and her sister Mattie Lee Phillips, formerly of Rehoboth Beach. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Wilson of Lewes; her son, William Daugherty of Severna Park, Md.; and two sisters, Doretha Sullivan of Wilmington and Margaret Johnson of Baltimore.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter Inc., 1019 S. Governors Ave., Dover, DE 19904.

Charles D. Parker III, local scientist
Charles D. Parker III, 59, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009. He was born in Clearfield, Pa., son of the late Charles D. Parker II and Marjorie A. Parker of Lewes.
Mr. Parker was a GS-11 soil scientist with the Soil Conservation Service of the USDA in Bedford, Marion and Bluefield, Va., and the Natural Resources and Conservation Service in Georgetown, retiring in 1999. He graduated from Lewes High School in 1968 and earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Delaware in 1977.
During his summer breaks, he served as a lifeguard at Delaware Seashore State Park. He was also a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 1, Lewes, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a guitar player with the church group Miracle Singers. He loved the Lewes-Milton area, its people, the beaches, and most of all his family. His hobbies were his guitars, music, swimming, bodysurfing, fishing, Native American lore, collecting Indian arrowheads, rockology, good movies and computers.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Darlene L. Greene, formerly of Newark. He is survived by his children, Charles D. Parker IV of Atlanta, Ga., Melissa Anne Parker of Georgetown and Nathan T. Parker of Columbus, Ohio; his mother Marjorie; his brother and sister-in-law Gary V. Parker Sr. and Debbie L. Parker; and two grandchildren, Katie Jane Parker of Apex, N.C., and Chance Joseph Parker of Georgetown.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes. There will be no calling hours and interment is private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Bethel United Methodist Church or for Boy Scout Troop 1 in care of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Audrey J. Sensale, community activist
Audrey J. Sensale, 79, of Lewes died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009.
Her innate love of sharing information carried her through careers in teaching, sales, corporate ownership and management. She had a long history of club and organization membership and participation in northern New Jersey, the Philadelphia area, Vienna, Va. and Lewes-Rehoboth. Recently, she spent two years as the first president of the Sussex County Genealogical Society and six years as an instructor at the Sussex Family YMCA Arthritis Pool Program. She served on the boards of many organizations, including branches of the American Association of University Women, Newcomer’s Clubs, the Ocean City Power Squadron, Angola By The Bay Property Owners Association and Lewes Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Art League and Adult Plus.
Mrs. Sensale was born March 29, 1930, in Newark, N.J. She was the older of two daughters of the late Karl Alex Jensen and Elsie O’Sullivan Jensen. Her father was a well-known northern New Jersey builder in Millburn, Short Hills and Westfield.
After graduation from Montclair State Teachers College (now Montclair State University) in 1951 with a degree in mathematics, she taught at Myrtle Avenue School, Irving, N.J., and then became a real estate salesperson. After a hiatus to raise a family, she and her husband co-founded Tensor Industries Inc., a consulting engineering company in Vienna in 1967. She served as vice president for finance and administration. She completed a certificate program at the University of Virginia School of Continuing Education in contract and grants management and received the designation of Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) from the National Contract Management Association. In 1983 they bought a hobby ceramics business, The Well, which they operated in Lewes until 1998. She was a Duncan-certified ceramics teacher.
During retirement she spent time traveling and pursuing hobbies, among them photography. She won a number of awards for her photographs over the years at the Delaware Statewide Senior Art Exhibits.
Her husband of 44 years, Charles J. Sensale, predeceased her in 1996. Survivors include daughters Audrey Lynn Sensale of Manassas, Va., and Alix. D. Sensale of Kirkland, Wash.; grandson Michael R. Sensale of Manassas; a sister, Barbara Jensen White and her husband William G. White of Hot Springs, Ark.; and cousins in Georgetown, England and Denmark.
There will b a memorial service at St. George’s Episcopal Chapel, Rt. 23, Angola, at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24. All friends are welcome to attend. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1019 S. Governors Ave., Dover DE 19904.
