The 2006 version of the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre features the return old favorites, exciting new programs and a new, third location.
The rotating schedule of four plays includes “Cinderella,” featuring the antics Delmarva, the rambunctious step-sister. Also on the roster is “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Alice in Wonderland.” A Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre (RSCT) first-time production, “Knightly Knews,” is the story of a mysterious dragon, a timid knight and an eager reporter.
RSCT is a resident professional theatre company.
All of the plays are performed by two multitalented, energetic actors. The shows have been developed by company founders Elise and Steve Seyfried. Family members of all ages will enjoy the fast-paced action and the lively sense of humor with these inventive productions.
Performances are staged in Rehoboth in the Epworth United Methodist Church and in Lewes at Cape Henlopen High School. Additionally, there will be two Saturday performances in Milton at the restored Milton Theatre.
2006 also brings the expansion of the theatre camp program. In addition to a repeat of the Create-A-Play Camp (Aug. 7-11) , young performers can join Owen Timoney for the Pirate Theatre Camp (July 10-14) or Shoshanna Hill for a Film and TV Camp (July 17-21). Each camp runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday for ages 9 through 12. The camps are held in Rehoboth.
Young performers can also participate in the Creative Dramatics Workshops. These take place in Rehoboth on Thursday mornings July 6 through Aug. 24. The workshops will be held in Milton on July 8 and Aug. 12. These programs are designed for children ages 5-12. Children can participate in one or more session.
