The ninth annual Overfalls opening party and auctions will be held 6-9:30 p.m., Friday, May 23, at the University of Delaware’s College of Marine and Earth Studies at the end of Pilottown Road, Lewes.
The theme for this year’s event is May Day! May Day! Support The Overfalls.
The organization is getting closer to its goal of $1.2 million to have the ship floated and towed to a shipyard for hull repairs as well as constructing a permanent bulkheaded berth with sufficient depth of water to have the ship floating on a permanent basis. These restorations and improvements will ensure that the Lightship Overfalls will continue to be a permanent icon in the City of Lewes and will be a major part of the new Canalfront Park.
This event is open to the public and tickets are on sale at $30 per person (or if available $35 at the door) and include food, wine and beer.
Again this year, ticket sales will be limited to 425; they can be obtained from any committee member, Lewes Gourmet/Puzzles, Kids Ketch, Lewes Chamber, or from Ticket Chairwoman Elaine Pease at 644-2506.
Sponsorship, donor and advertising opportunities are also available; contact any committee member or chairwoman Joan Reader at 645-9290 for more information on how individuals or businesses can support the Overfalls.
Visit www.overfalls.org for more information and to view some of the exciting items which will be offered at the event.
