La Esperanza to partner with
agencies for community cleanup
As part of its commitment to maintaining the vibrant and historical town of Georgetown, La Esperanza has partnered with community leaders from First State Community Action Agency, La Casita, Georgetown Boys & Girls Club, Perdue Farms, El Mercado, Super Tienda Xela and the Town of Georgetown to join forces for a Community Cleanup Day Saturday, Nov. 7.

Georgetown Community Cleanup Day is an event that provides the opportunity for students, families, service organizations, businesses and other groups to make a difference by spending a few hours sprucing up designated areas of Georgetown.

This event brings community volunteers together to clean up litter from the streets and develops a continuing sense of pride for the community. Keeping Georgetown clean and green is also an easy way to build the economy and support conservation efforts.

Individual and group participants must register the day of the event. Volunteers should meet at La Esperanza, 216 N. Race St. at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and to bring work gloves for safety.

Lunch and water will be provided. The event will be held rain or shine. Volunteers are needed to make the event a success.

For more information on how to help, call Jill Gomez at La Esperanza Community Center at 854-9262, Ext. 28.
