Regional energy event benefits
green energy training programs
Expo set for Nov. 21 at Sussex Tech
Organizers of the Desk Energy Expo have entered into an agreement with Sussex Technical High School designating 35 percent of the event’s total ticket sales to benefit green-energy training program development for high school and continuing education students. The expo will be Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Sheraton Dover Hotel convention facility.

Expo presenter Desk Magazine believes it is critical to ensure the expo provides support for community-based renewable energy programs while it helps build Delaware’s green energy market and provides consumers with direct access to dozens of green energy and energy-efficiency service providers.

“Desk Magazine deals primarily with southern Delmarva’s economic development, and Sussex Technical school’s efforts are at the heart of that,” said Desk publisher Mark S. Reeve. “Its training programs reach young students earlier and better equip them for tomorrow’s technologies, as well as train and certify adults for jobs in emerging industries. We felt it paramount that the Desk Energy Expo support the school’s developing green-energy programs.”

Sussex Tech’s electrical training programs already include energy-efficiency practices. The school built a mobile energy test house to measure efficiency and conservation, as well as demonstrate optimum insulation and systems installation.

Funded in part by sponsor Delmarva Power, the expo will offer home and business owners information about how to make energy services green and save energy costs.

Approximately 40 exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions and show the latest in energy-saving and energy-efficient products, as well as the newest solar, wind and environmental control systems. Six informative seminars throughout the day will help attendees discover available incentives and rebates for their energy upgrades, as well as learn the future of energy in their communities. They’ll also find out how home and business energy consultations can help save money.

Tickets are $4 per person presale and $5 per person at the event. Thirty-five percent of all ticket proceeds will benefit green energy education program and systems development at Sussex Technical High School.
