Free mortgage workshops
help first-time home buyers
There will be two workshops in November to help first-time homebuyers and homeowners facing foreclosure.

The workshops provide an opportunity for first-time homebuyers to meet with housing counselors who can help them prepare them for purchasing a home.

Workshops also offer help to homeowners who want to prevent foreclosure on their homes.

A mortgage workshop is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at NCALL Research Inc., 110 S. Bedford St., Georgetown.

For more information, contact Nathaniel Horsey at 302-678-9400.

First State Community Action Agency will present a foreclosure-prevention workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 21, at the agency’s office at 308 North Railroad Ave., Georgetown.

For more information, contact Tracy Spriggs at 302-674-1355.

Homeowners who are worried about missing a mortgage payment, are facing foreclosure or who suspect a foreclosure scam are encouraged to call the attorney general’s mortgage hotline at 800-220-5424.

This hotline serves as a central statewide resource for homeowners who seek information about government programs for homeowners, want to connect with a certified housing counselor, are looking for upcoming housing workshops or want to report foreclosure scams.
