Small Works exhibit opens at Gallery One Nov. 5
Gallery One in Ocean View, a fine art gallery, will exhibit a new show, Small Works, opening Thursday, Nov. 5, which will show work by 16 local artists in a format not larger than 14 inches displayed on the theme wall.

Small paintings are like precious jewels and bring the viewer into close proximity with an object. The artwork must have a strong impact that interests the viewer to search for details like information or beautiful brushstrokes and surfaces.

With 16 different artists showing on this theme, the expressions are varied. Jean Mueller’s oil, “View from the Lavender Field,” is one of the pictures on view. Her piece has a surface of varying thickness and dazzling color. Another artist, Cheryl Wisbrock, uses watercolor with a delicate touch that expresses the fragile nature of shells. Watercolorist Anne Hanna is showing “Green Heron,” a detailed painting with vibrant colors, and Joyce Condry draws the viewer into a romantic walk on the streets of Lucca, Italy.

Visitors who are interested in larger work will be able to view artists’ display walls, which have five to six works by each gallery artist. Also, the Artesian Room has fine craft works such as pottery, wearable fibers, digital photos, jewelry and framed fiber images.

Gallery One, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, represents 16 local artists at 32 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View. For more information, call 302-537-5055 or visit galleryonede.com.
