Ravens top Cavaliers
Tech looks to get past Archmere
Everyone knew the game would be postponed that and there was no way the state tournament committee would jeopardize post-season dreams by forcing teams to play 60 minutes in a northeast rain storm.

The problem is that nor’easters last for days and the best shot to get the game in was Wednesday before it just got worse.

Sussex Tech, a third seed, gave up home-field advantage over Middletown because it was just too soggy around the home cages.

Hospitable Milford offered its new turf field site and the game was moved.

The Ravens went against the wind in the first half as Maxine Fluharty was flashing her great speed all over the field, and Abby Adkins and Logan Pavlik kept the pressure on goalie Kerianne Rojas.

The Ravens’ Caitlyn Stone was pressed into making a difficult save early in the half, but by halftime the game was scoreless.

Early in the second half a crossing pass from Logan Pavlik found the smooth blade of Kelsey Doherty and “bang” the ball was in the cage at 24:47 for a 1-0 Raven advantage.

Sussex Tech threw 21 shots at the Middletown goal while the Cavaliers could only manage five shots, but three of those required major saves from Caitlyn Stone.

Sussex Tech will play Archmere at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in Milford.

The 13-1-1 Auks lost their first game of the season, 9-0, to Tower Hill. Their other wobble was a 2-2 tie versus Brandywine.
