Southern Delaware Tourism has begun accepting nominations for the 2009 Southern Delaware Tourism Recognition Award. The annual award recognizes the efforts of local individuals and organizations that have had a significant effect on Sussex County’s tourism industry.
“Sussex County’s tourism industry is comprised of a phenomenal group of partners,” said Aubrey Manzo, Southern Delaware Tourism marketing manager. “The success of the industry and the economic impact that it has on our county and state directly reflects the tireless efforts that these partners put forth, and this is a time to recognize their hard work and celebrate their accomplishments.”
The award was presented in 2008 to the Apple-Scrapple Festival Committee, whose efforts over the past 18 years have created one of the most popular events in the county. Each year, the Apple-Scrapple Festival welcomes more than 25,000 visitors to the historic Town of Bridgeville for the weekend event.
Eligible nominees must work in Sussex County. The award applies to contributions to the tourism industry in Sussex County prior to September 2009.
The deadline for nomination forms has been extended to Monday, Nov. 16.
