Delaware River and Bay Authority Activates Traffic Cameras - Bridge, Ferry Webcams Provide Customers with Real-time Traffic Information

(New Castle, DE) Today, Delaware River and Bay Authority officials announced that traffic cameras at the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Cape May – Lewes Ferry locations have been activated, providing customers with new tools to plan their commutes and vacation travels. These new webcams, which follow the launch of the Delaware Memorial Bridge’s twitter site earlier this month, enables customers of these vital transportation links to get much needed traffic information and current weather conditions prior to beginning their travels.
According to Executive Director Scott A. Green, Esq., the Delaware River and Bay Authority’s number one priority is to exceed the customers’ expectations and the introduction of the traffic cams is part of this initiative. “We must view every situation from the customer’s perspective and treat our customers the right way,” Green said. “Our organization starts and ends with great customer service. This increased use of social media should help our customers better plan their travel route and time.”
The Delaware Memorial Bridge has four live traffic cams: one near the Delaware Memorial Bridge toll plaza, one at the base of the Delaware bound bridge in New Jersey, one on the approach to the New Jersey bound span in Delaware and another at the base of the New Jersey bound span in New Jersey. The Bridge traffic cameras can be accessed at www.drba.net/DelawareMemorialBridge.aspx.
Four live traffic cameras are also available for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, two each at the Cape May and Lewes terminals. These camera links can be found on the Ferry’s homepage, www.cmlf.com.
All of the traffic cams may be accessed on the Delaware River and Bay Authority homepage at www.drba.net.
“We wanted to make the traffic cams easy to use and convenient for our customers,” remarked Geraldine DiNicola-Owens, Chief Information Officer for the Authority. “The drop down menus provide quick access to all the different locations available. It’s also designed to be available on most smart phones.”
