Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland
We bid farewell to 2023's traditional summer season this Labor Day Weekend with several fun and exciting things to do over the next few days.
From the always popular jazz funeral in Bethany Beach to Rehoboth Beach's sun festival, a beach dance party in Ocean City, and a whole lot more, this should be a great finale to another incredible summer season at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.
Get outside and enjoy the warm weather while you still can. And don't forget that the region's fall festival season begins next weekend with the annual Nanticoke Indian Powwow and a whole lot more.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral (September 4)
It's time once again for the traditional goodbye to the summer in Delaware's "Quiet Resort" of Bethany Beach, and that means the one-and-only annual tradition that is the Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral.
This occasion is marked by a parade down the Bethany Beach Boardwalk at 5:30 p.m., complete with revelers dressed in black and "mourning" the passing of the summer of 2023.
The parade is led by both the Jazz Funeral Irregulars and the Dixie Cats, with more than a dozen instruments blasting out the sad tunes of the day.
This end-of-summer tradition has now been going on for nearly 40 years in the resort town of Bethany Beach.

Sun Festival 2023 (September 2-3)
This annual festival organized by the folks at CAMP Rehoboth returns for another run in 2023. As in past years, the event will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Rehoboth Avenue.
The Sun Festival features two nights of entertainment and good-natured fun in the heart of downtown Rehoboth Beach. This year's show is scheduled for September 2 and 3 with the doors open each evening by 7:00.
Featured acts for 2023 include DJ Robbie Leslie, DJ Joe Gauthreaux, Dixie Longate, Randy Roberts, and more.
The Sun Festival is a fundraiser for CAMP Rehoboth. Learn more or purchase tickets to the event by clicking here.
