Things to Do This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

July 6, 2023

As is often the case after a busy holiday weekend, this week's activities calendar is one of the lightest of the summer.

But not to worry, we still have a number of great options to consider over the next few days at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

The biggest event of this second weekend of July is actually being held a short drive to the west in the city of Seaford, where the 2023 Riverfest will be held on the Nanticoke.

Back at the beaches, we have the Lewes Antiques Show and some great farmer's markets and outdoor concerts on the calendar.

Keep reading for our top choices for the weekend of July 7-9 at and near the beaches.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Nanticoke Riverfest (July 8)

The city of Seaford's biggest annual festival is slated for this Saturday, July 8, when the pristine Nanticoke River takes center stage for Riverfest 2023.

Centered on both the river and High Street downtown, thousands of people generally attend this outdoor celebration of the Nanticoke, with Riverfest being held for the 28th time this year.

The main event of the festival is the float-in down the river, but there's plenty to do both before and after the water-based fun.

Other scheduled activities include a bike raffle, a classic car show, a duck dash, a fishing rodeo, a children's area, an 80s hair contest, and an always fun hidden idol challenge.

Lewes Antiques Show (July 7-8)

This popular summertime event is being held for the 63rd time in 2023 and is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on both Friday and Saturday.

Held at Bethel United Methodist Church on 4th Street in Lewes, this annual show features arts, photography, antiques, collectibles, and much more.

The fee to attend the 2023 show is $5, which allows admission for both days of the event.

Arts Day in the Pines (July 9)

Scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, this event will be held at Veterans Memorial Park in Ocean Pines.

The day features a number of fun, family-friendly activities, including axe throwing, arts and crafts activities, face painting, bounce houses, art workshops, live music, and lots of food and drinks.

The event is a fundraiser for the Ocean City Art League and is co-sponsored by the Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Department.
