14th RD Democratic Committee to host paint night Sept. 28
The 14th Representative District Democratic Committee will sponsor a paint night at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Forgotten Mile Ale House, 20859 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. Participants will be guided by artist Jennifer August who will re-create a painting called "Space Between Lines." The acrylic painting articulates a creative space characterized by strong lines and soft pauses. The piece was inspired by a home project the artist recently installed on the cathedral ceiling in a gallery hallway in her home in Rehoboth Beach.
August said, "I restored rolls of old, old driftwood-looking beach fence by adding layers and layers of marine shellac, and then I installed it in a rolling fashion across the ceiling. The jutting, linear light fractals on the wood floor make people part of the lightscape as they pass through that space."
Each participant will produce an 11-by-14-inch painting. Canvas, brushes and paint will be provided. Hors d'oeuvres will be included, and a cash bar will be available. The cost is $50 per person. To purchase tickets, call Cheryl Fruchtman at 302-227-1056 or email c.fruchtman@comcast.net.
