Abby Adams investiture set in Sussex July 26

The Court of Common Pleas for the State of Delaware will sit in special session Friday, July 26, at 2 p.m. for the investiture of the Honorable Abby Adams as a commissioner. The investiture ceremony will be held in Courtroom One of the Sussex County Courthouse, The Circle, Georgetown.

Adams served as a deputy attorney general in the appeals section of the criminal division of the Delaware Department of Justice from September 2007 to present. Prior to that, she served as a deputy in the civil division. In the winter of 2012, Adams completed a three-month fellowship with the National Association of Attorneys General in Washington, D.C., studying practice before the United State Supreme Court.

From 1998-2006, Adams worked at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., spending her last four years there with the Office of Mergers and Acquisitions in the Division of Corporation Finance. Adams began her legal career in 1997 as a law clerk for the Hon. Randy J. Holland of the Supreme Court of Delaware.

Adams is a graduate of Lake Forest High School, the University of Delaware, and Widener University School of Law. In 2002 she earned a master of laws in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar, the Supreme Court of Delaware, and the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia.

Chief Judge Alex J. Smalls will preside over the special session. Delaware Supreme Court Justice Randy J. Holland will administer the oath of office and offer remarks. Additionally, Superior Court Judge Paul R. Wallace will also offer remarks. A reception will follow in the first floor, Jury Orientation Room.
