ACA health insurance open enrollment to close Jan. 15
The Affordable Care Act signup deadline of Saturday, Jan. 15, is fast approaching.
Affordable Care Act open enrollment is a crucial and limited time for people not covered by their job or another government program to select high-quality, affordable health insurance. Individuals and families can get better health insurance coverage for less money in 2022. At a time when prices for food, gas and many other necessities are climbing and straining household budgets, more people can qualify for low or no-cost health insurance coverage thanks to enhanced subsidies.
Consumers with an income above 400 percent of the federal poverty level – which is about $51,000 for an individual and $105,000 for a family of four – are also now eligible for subsidies or tax credits through the ACA marketplace that will help lower premiums. Previously, these consumers weren’t eligible for premium subsidies.
Thanks in part to legislation passed by Congress, it’s estimated that over 90 percent of ACA members qualify for tax credits to make coverage more affordable. An estimated 40 percent of ACA members now have access to a plan with a $0 premium.
Plans with lower deductibles, including $0 deductibles, are also more affordable.
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware’s Affordable Care Act health insurance products for the upcoming year offer individuals and families an array of high-quality, affordable coverage options.
Highmark remains the only company offering individual and family plans on Healthcare.gov to Delaware residents.
“Our goal is to offer the best health insurance products in the region at prices that all of our members can afford,” said Alexis Miller, Highmark president of federal markets. “And new enhancements to the ACA have made plans more affordable for even more consumers by reducing or eliminating premiums and lowering out-of-pocket costs.”
Thanks in part to the American Rescue Plan, about three in four Highmark ACA members qualify for tax credits to make their coverage more affordable, and about one in four members are enrolled in a plan with a $0 monthly premium.
