Aging in Place specialists serve with precautions in place

May 13, 2020

The Aging in Place specialists team members want the community to know they are continuing to serve the older adult population during this pandemic as an essential healthcare provider in the home.

Their goal, as always, is to help community members live and age well. Aging in Place specialists provide physical therapy, wellness programs and home modification services in the privacy and comfort of patients’ homes. Exercise is one of the most significant ways for people to stay healthy and boost the immune system, along with proper rest, nutrition, connection and hydration. If someone has conditions that are making it difficult to manage everyday activities at home, it is important to seek professional care to restore mobility, prevent further exacerbation of the condition and improve quality of life.

Being able to deliver outpatient care in the home without requirement of homebound status or face-to-face visits with physicians has enabled the company to minimize both the risk of infection and risk of spreading the infection by decreasing potential need for emergency room visits, hospitalizations and other nonessential appointments.

Aging in Place specialists have taken the following steps to protect staff and patients during this time, with guidance from local and federal mandates as well as CDC guidelines: Every physical therapist has been and is continuously being screened for COVID-19 with awareness of what constitutes the need to report to leadership if symptoms or exposure arise. Every patient is being screened before initial evaluation for COVID-19 with a systemized flow chart of plans of action depending on the answers to questions asked. Physical therapists are wearing N95 masks and gloves, with proper hand washing and sanitizing techniques at every visit.

The company is continuing to stay updated on new mandates to keep the community safe and mitigate any further risk of infection with frequent communication to team members.

The company is best known for its stellar treatment of back pain and balance issues, but it also provides care for pre/post-operative conditions, Parkinson’s disease, difficulty with walking, vertigo, stroke, neck, hip, shoulder, knee, foot/ankle pain and more.
