Agnes Yvonne Allen, Beebe retiree

Agnes Yvonne (Baebae) Allen passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 15, 1943, to Earnest and Phyllis Allen. Agnes was born and raised in Lewes. She received her education at the DuPont Avenue School in Lewes and William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown. As an adult, she moved her family to Slaughter Neck, later settling in Lincoln.

Agnes had a strong work ethic, and cared deeply about her family and friends. Caring for her family brought her great joy. She worked at Beebe Hospital for 40 years as a nurses aide. After retirement, Agnes continued working as a private-duty caregiver and a greeter at Walmart. Agnes attended St. Paul’s UMC Church in Lewes in her early years. Her favorite pastime was crocheting. She enjoyed sharing her beautiful, handmade creations with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Allen; brothers, Martin, Alton, Jerome, Earnest, Robert and James; and sisters, Mary, Helen and Nancy.  

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Pierre Allen; daughter, Dawn (Aston) Pyne; two grandsons, Marcus (Whitney) and Brandon (Lindsey); brother, Earnest Allen Jr.; and sisters, Dorothy and Berdie. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.    

A celebration of Agnes’ life will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, at Calvary Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.
