Aina Nergaard-Nammack and Marta Nammack art reception set

July 1, 2021

CAMP Rehoboth will present Inspirations, an exhibit featuring the works of mother-daughter duo Aina Nergaard-Nammack and Marta Nammack from Tuesday, July 6 to Tuesday, Aug. 3.

A courtyard reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 12, when parking meters are not in effect. Attendees can view the art on display in the gallery.

Aina is a colorist working with abstract forms, both representational and nonrepresentational, and Marta is a talented photographer. Each artist uses her medium to communicate in an individual way. Both artists use art to tell a story, and show life and nature in an interesting light.

Aina said she is inspired by the act of painting itself. “Don’t believe any artist who tells you that he works when he is inspired,” she said. “That doesn’t work. You work, and then you get inspired. It is hard work. It is fun, but it is hard.” She extracts what she feels, and imagines forms and colors in equilibrium. “My nonrepresentational forms flow as part of a rhythmical interplay.” The result is a vibrant, balanced composition. When she takes time to notice the intriguing shapes and patterns all around her, she feels inner peace.

Marta said she is inspired by the surrounding world. “There is always a different way of seeing the beauty, whether it be the expression in a subject’s eyes, interactions between people or animals, the patterns made in nature, or a combination of shapes, shadows, and light. The beauty and simplicity of life on the coast is especially evident in the early morning and at dusk, when the light is more dramatic, and the beaches are less crowded. The mesmerizing shapes and patterns in these images provide some order and calm to this sometimes-chaotic world,” she said.

These artists inspire each other. Marta’s photograph “Clouds, Sunbeams and Water” served as inspiration for Aina’s painting of the same name. The special mother-daughter bond inspired them to create portraits of each other.

CAMP Rehoboth is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Private tours may be arranged by emailing artshow@camprehoboth.com.
