Alexandra Reed Baker in recorder of deeds race

Harbeson Republican will face off with incumbent in Sept. 13 primary
July 20, 2022

Alexandra Reed Baker of Harbeson, a lifelong Sussex County resident, is running in the Sept. 13 Republican primary for the Sussex County Recorder of Deeds office held by Republican Scott Dailey.

“I have a calling to serve the public. I have the skill set and desire to provide better service and a better value to the taxpayers of Sussex County,” said Reed Baker, making her announcement to enter the race.

She said the recorder of deeds is not designed to be a career position.

“My opponent has held the office for 12 years and is running for another four-year term. No recorder of deeds in Sussex County has held the office for more than 12 years. It is time for a change,” she said.

Reed Baker has worked at Capstone Homes for 10 years, where she coordinates the company's real estate transactions. She said the company closes on about 100 homes per year.

The Cape Henlopen High School graduate has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in administration of justice from Wilmington University.

She and her husband, Dan Baker, have a 4-year-old daughter, Blake. Her husband owns and operates Tri-State Tree Service LLC, which has been in business for 40 years.
