American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard/Riverdale honored all veterans of the armed forces with a moving Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11.

Post 28 Commander Joe Brown said 19 million veterans are still with us today, and that too many veterans experience homelessness and contemplate suicide.

Navy veteran Dave Markowitz of Home of the Brave detailed services available to men and women at the facility, which provides food, transitional housing and counseling to American veterans to help them get back on their feet. At least 1,000 veterans are homeless on Delmarva, he said.
Post 28 Auxiliary President June Jones said World War I formally ended on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
Post 28 Auxiliary Chaplain Robin Airey thanked veterans and their families for their sacrifices in keeping America safe.
